assessment)
1. In what layer of atmosphere does tropical
cyclone occur?

2. How does a tropical cyclone develop?

3. What are the different categories of
tropical cyclone?

4. What are the various names of tropical

cyclone in other parts of globe?
Key Concepts:

The troposphere is exposed to natural

phenomena and activities like weather
conditions. Part of the atmosphere where
clouds are being formed. This layer consists
of water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane,
nitrous oxide, and others.

Tropical cyclone, also called typhoon or

hurricane, an intense circular storm that
originates over warm tropical oceans and is
characterized by low atmospheric pressure,
high winds, and heavy rain.

This process involves several requirements, if

met, will led to the formation of storm.

1. Warm ocean surface with temperature of

26.5˚C to a depth at least 50 meters

2. Presence of Intertropical Convergence

Zone (ITCZ)

3. Greater amount of water vapor in the air
