Detailed Lesson Plan in Mathematics VII

March 08, 2018

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson 80% of the students will be able to:
a. Define and illustrate the different terms associated with a triangle;
b. Classify triangles according to their angles and according to their sides; and
c. Derive relationships among sides and angles of a triangle.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
GEOMETRY
Content standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of geometry of shapes and
sizes, and geometric relationships.
Performance Standard:
The learner is able to create models of plane figures and formulate and solve
accurately authentic problems involving sides and angles of a polygon.
Learning Competency:
The learner constructs triangles, squares, rectangles, regular pentagons, and regular
hexagons. M7GE-IIIh-i-1

III. PROCEDURE

Teacher’s Activity Student”s Activity

A. Class Preparation

May I ask anyone to lead a prayer? Ma’am.

Yes, please. Let us all pray...

Good morning everyone! Good morning Ma’am.

Please take your seats. Thank you Ma’am.

May I ask who are not absent today? (Students answer)

Thank you.

What was our activity yesterday? We discussed about the properties of types of polygons.

What are the types of polygons? Equilateral polygons, equiangular polygons ang regular
polygons.
Very well said. Thank you.

B. Motivation:

Today, we will be engaged in finding out the sum of

exterior angles of a convex polygon.
Are you ready?
Yes ma’am!
Great! Let’s start.
C. Presentation
I have here a figure, and I want to know how
you find the relationship of the angles
labelled.

What do you see? I see angles labelled outside of the polygon.

The labelled angles are linear pairs. Like angle d and s, as

well as the angle and b, and c and f.

D. Analyzation
Look at angle a, b and c.
If we can recall, what do we call angles inside the Interior angles ma’am.
polygon?

Now look at angles d, e, and f. What do we call Exterior angles ma’am.

angles formed outside of the polygon?

Let us determine the sum of angles of these

following given angles by measuring this using
protractor. (Correct answers)

E. Generalization
May I ask anyone from the class of your
Ma’am, the sum of the measures of the exterior angles of a
observations?
convex polygon is 360.
Exactly!

F. Application
Now, to further take in the sum total of exterior
angles of a convex polygon, I will group you into 6
groups and will be given different n sides of polygon.
After that, you will measure the exterior angles, we
will then see if the sum of all the exterior angles is
really 360.

IV. EVALUATION

V. ASSIGNMENT:
Do the same thing with dodecagon, then measure the sum of the exterior angles of a convex
polygon.
