I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
A. Define the distance formula.
B. Calculate the distance between two points on the plane using the distance
formula.
C. Apply the distance formula and appreciate how the distance formula facilitates
finding solutions to real-life problems.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Distance Formula
B. Materials: PowerPoint, Laptop, Google meet, Word wall, and, Jamboard
C. References: Math10 Learner’s Module; Soaring 21st Century Mathematics 10
III. Procedure
B. Prayer Class, kindly open your camera for the opening (The students will open their
prayer camera)
May I call on Ms. _________ to lead the prayer (The student will lead the
prayer)
C. Checking of Class, may I request everyone to type your (Students will type their name
attendance name and section to the chat box for your and section)
attendance.
D. Classroom (The teacher will present the virtual classroom
management etiquette.)
Let me just remind you of our virtual classroom (The students will read the
etiquette that we need to observe. virtual classroom etiquette
and they agreed with me.)
Classroom Etiquette
Please listen to my
discussion attentively.
Mute your microphone
when you are not
speaking. If possible,
open your cam at all
times.
Be engaged. Take
down notes.
If you have question,
suggestion and
clarification please
raise your hand.
E. Review Who among you can recall our last topic? (The student will raise his/her
hand)
Bravo!
Very Good!
Example 1: a. M (2,2)
a. The coordinates of the endpoints of AB
are (3,5) and (9,7) respectively. What
are the coordinates of its midpoint M? b. M (6,4)
b. Using the midpoint formula, find the
midpoint between points M (5,4) and Y
(7,4)
I. Generalization What have you learned for today’s discussion? (The students will state what
they have learned)
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Greetings!
Good morning, Neptune learners! How Good morning, Ma’am! We are fine
is your day so?
2. Prayer
Class, kindly open your camera for the

opening prayer
May I call on Ms. _________ to lead (The student will lead the prayer)
the prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
Class, can you open your camera and
smile for your attendance.

5. Motivation clarification please raise your hand.
Before we start our day, let’s first
have an activity “determining
distance”. Activity 1: “Determining Distance”
Possible Answers:
Let a = 460 meters and b = 365 meters
a2 + b2 = c2
460m2 + 365m2 = c2
211 600 + 133 225 = c2
344 825 = c2
√344 825 = √c2
c = 587.2180174 ≈ 587.22 meters
Excellent!
Possible answer:
Who among you knows the
formula in solving distance
between two points?
Bravo!
Steps:
1. Decide which variable you
want to eliminate.
2. Multiply one or both equations
by the appropriate constants so
that the variable that you want
to eliminate becomes additive
inverse of each other.
3. Add the resulting equations.
4. Solve the equation obtained in
STEP 3.
5. Substitute the value of the
variable obtained in STEP 4
into one of the original
equations and solve for the
other variable.
6. Check your solution in both
original equations
Example:
-2x + y = 4 -2x+y = 4
2x + 3y = 20 -2x + 6 = 4
4y = 24 -2x +6 – 6 = 4 – 6
-2x = -2
4y = 24 -2x = - 2
4 4 -2 -2
y= 6 x=1
