lesson. Okay, Great!

We’ll be exploring today, and who

better to explore with? Ma’am, A pirate.

Alright!

A long time ago there was a group of

pirates who found out that Island of
Zimbabwe has a hidden treasure. This
group of Pirates was led by Capt. Jack.

Because of his mastery of treasure

hunting, he thought that it is boring, so
he decided to divide the group into
three and make it a competition.

So, the group one will be the red

pirates base on the color of your
nametags. And group 2 to the blue
pirates, and last group 3 will be the
black pirates.

Okay, Let the adventure begin…

After a long walk entering the Island,
they felt thirsty. They saw a coconut
tree, but the problem is they cannot get
the fruits because they don’t know the
answer to the quest.

This quest
is
entitled “4 pics one

Are you familiar with this game class?

Yes, ma’am!
Okay, I will give you 2 minutes to
answer. Start now

the map.

Before diving to our new lesson,

let’s watch this short video.
As I play the video, you have to
observe and take down some
important notes.
Yes Ma’am!
Did you understand class?

 What have you observed at The video talks about mean,

the video? median and mode.

That’s right!

So, our topic for today is all about

lesson At the end of the lesson, the
learners should be able to:
a. define the mean, median

b. compute for the mean,

ungrouped data;
c. participate actively in
different activities.
C. Presenting Ungrouped Data is data given as

of the new lesson
Measure of Central Tendency for
Ungrouped Data

 Mean
 Median
 Mode

Take a look at this picture.

What can you tell us about these

numbers? Ma’am it tells us the test
scores of Abby in Math.
Mean is the numerical average of the
data set.
The most commonly used measure of
central tendency.

The formula of finding the mean:

𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 = 𝑆𝑢𝑚 𝑜𝑓 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑠
𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒

Let’s find Abby’s MEAN math test

score? 97, 84, 88, 100, 95, 63, 73, 86,
97
So, we will use the formula for finding
the mean or average:
What is the formula of Mean?
𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 = 𝑆𝑢𝑚 𝑜𝑓 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒𝑠
𝑇𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑙 𝑛𝑢𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑓 𝑣𝑎𝑙𝑢𝑒
Very good!

Using the formula, let us now

substitute the values given,

𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 =
97+84 +88+100+ 95+63+73+ 86+97
9
783 ma’am
What is the sum of all values?

That’s right!
So,
783
𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 =
9
𝑴𝒆𝒂𝒏 = 87

The mean or average of Abby’s Math

test score is 87.

Median is the number that is in the

middle of a set of data.

To find the median, we follow these

two steps.
1. Arrange the numbers in the data set
in order from least to greatest.
2. Then find the number that is in the
middle.

Find the median of Abby’s math test

scores. 97, 84, 88, 100, 95, 63, 73,
86, 97
63, 73, 84, 86, 88, 95, 97, 97,
Applying the steps, 100
Can someone arrange the given
scores from least to greatest?

Ma’am 88.
Very good!

Now, what number is in the middle?

That’s right!

Therefore, the median of Abby’s test Ma’am, how about when two
score is 88. numbers are in the middle,
how do we find the median?
Is there any question about the
median?

Good question!
63, 73, 84, 88, 95, 97, 97, 100
If two numbers are in the middle, add
the two numbers then divide it by two. 88+95 183
= = 91.5
Find the median: 97, 84, 88, 100, 95, 2 2
63, 73, 97

The median is 91.5

Mode is the piece of data that occurs
most frequently in the data set.

A set of data can have:

 One mode
 More than one mode
 No mode

Find the median of Abby’s math test

scores. 97, 84, 88, 100, 95, 63, 73, 97, 84, 88, 100, 95, 63, 73,
86, 97 86, 97

What is the mode of Abby’s test

scores?
The mode is 97 Ma’am.

Are you sure?

Yes Ma’am. The value 97
appears twice while all the
other numbers appear just
once
Very well said!

skills #2. are home to crocodiles unless they
complete the quest.
Are you will to help them class?

This

quest is called

Very good! The blue pirates will be the

leading group to the next location on
the map.
F. Developing Mastery The next place on the map which is the

Assessment)

To open the clamshell, you need to

answer this quest.

Very good! The Black pirates will be

the leading group to the next location
on the map.
G. Finding practical After opening the clamshell both
applications of groups are proceeding to the next
concepts and skills place on the map which is the temple,
in daily living but the problem is the temple is locked

To unlock the temple, you need to

answer the quest called
The Blue pirates will be the leading
group to the next location on the map.

H. Making At this point, the pirate groups are

generalizations and almost at the location of the treasure
abstractions about chest. Their last quest is to answer the
the lesson questions given by the mermaid to get
the key for the treasure chest.

This we'll test how much you learned

from our discussion.

Okay, the first group to get on the

chest is the group...
Tons of gold will be awarded to the
group that finds the chest.

Okay, open your chest…
