Motivation:

Good morning class! How is your day so far? Good morning ma’am, we are fine

That’s good to hear! So before we begin our lesson

this morning, let us ask the guidance of almighty God
and let us enlighten our mind to completely (Student will lead the prayer)
understand the lesson this morning. Would you please
lead the prayer?

Please take your seat Thank you ma’am

Class monitor please check the attendance. (The class monitor will check the
attendance)

classroom rooms (5P’s)
I will divide this class into four groups.

Each group will be given jumbled letter. As I say go,

everyone should participate to arrange and figure out
the word. The word should be posted on the board. I
will give you one minute to decipher the word. The
first group who will get the words correctly in a short
period of time will get the prize.

1. LTTAIDEU 1.LATITUDE

2. NGILOTDE 2.LONGITUDE
3. EUAQOTR 3.EQUATOR
4. PMIRE MREDAIIN
4. PRIME MERIDIAN

Ok class, thank you for your participation Yes ma’am

How do you find the game?

Do you find it exciting? Yes ma’am

Please take note of those words, because those words
will be use in our next lesson.

So any of you here have ever experienced flying on an

airplane?

When you are flying on a plane you can see beautiful

skies, Amazing views but how do you know where to
go? There aren’t any signs floating in the air right? So We don’t know ma’am.
how do pilots know where to land there planes?

Would you like to know how? Yes ma’am!

Ok, so our objectives today is:

At the end of the lesson, 75% of the students should

be able to:

1. Locate places on Earth using coordinate

system

ELICIT
(The teacher will distribute the globe for students to
see the lines of latitude and longitude)

What do you call the object in front of you? Globe

Do you know what are the uses of Globe? Locate places

What are the things that you can see in Globe? Places, Lines

Okay, so have you noticed that there are vertical and Yes ma’am
horizontal lines?

So what do you call these vertical and horizontal lines Latitude and longitude
on a Globe?

Correct!
Class do you know what is latitude and longitude? Yes ma’am

Latitude, this are imaginary lines

Can you tell me what is latitude? that circles the Earth and is parallel
to the equator

Latitude are parallel to the equator and to each other.

They do not meet and they form circles at the poles.

If latitude is a parallel line that circles the Earth then The line of longitude goes up and
what is longitude? down. They are through the North
The lines of longitude are not parallel to each other. Pole and South pole

The zero degrees line of longitude

What do you call the line that is zero degrees latitude? is called the prime meridian.

What do you call the line that is zero degrees latitude? Sir the line that is zero degrees
latitude is called the equator.

ENGAGE Ok, so I will be showing you a video presentation

about latitude and longitude please pay attention,
because I will be asking questions after the video.

(the teacher will present a video)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwUuVdF8ohY

Ok, so what is the video all about? Latitude, longitude , locating

places

Do you know how to read the latitude and longitude in No ma’am

the globe?

Is it possibleto use the latitude and longitude in Yes ma’am

locating places? How?

You may also use this knowledge in your other

subjects such as A.P., Math, and etc.
Now that we already know what is latitude and
longitude, I have here in front, the lines of latitude and
longitude because this time we are going to locate
places using coordinates.

I have a scenario then you’re going to point here in the

map which place does the coordinates points to.

Here’s the scenario you are an investigator and you (Gets the marker and points the
were told to investigate in this coordinates: 20 degrees coordinate given to the map.)
latitude and 15 degrees longitude. Now locate it on the
map.

Very good!

Another scenario: you were born a pirate but a good

pirate and you are the protector of the seas because the (Gets the marker and points the
sea is your treasure and you wanted to protect it from coordinate given to the map.)
bad people. You received a report that there is a
poacher collecting endangered species of turtles in this
coordinates 35 degrees latitude and 40 degrees
longitude. Locate it on the map

Very good!

Here’s the scenario: tomorrow is February 14, 2025

and its been seven years since you last saw your crush
and then a few minutes from now you received a call
with an unknown number and you had a strange (Gets the marker and points the
feeling while answering the call, knowing it was your coordinate given to the map.)
crush and he invited you to go to his birthday and he
gave you this coordinates 28 degrees latitude, 6
degrees longitude. Locate it

Now that you already know what is latitude and

longitude and you know how to locate places with
directions using coordinates this time, we will have an
activity and were going to use a globe.

Are you ready?

We are ready
EXPLORE
Activity: the teacher groups the students into 4 groups and each group will choose their
leader and reporter, they will be given a globe. The teacher will give coordinates and the
students will locate the places given.

Suppose you are a pilot and you will be given the coordinates, And a passenger ask you
“Tell me where I am”

“ TELL ME WHERE I AM”

Group Place Latitude

2 Hawaii
3 China
4 Peru
(Rubric is attached to the lesson plan)

EXPLAIN
Let the representative of each group present and report the result of their activity

ELABORATE

If you are going to a place that you haven’t been

before what are you going to do and what are you Answer may vary
going to prepare before going to the place?

Ma’am latitude, this is imaginary

lines that circle the Earth and is
parallel to the equator while the
Class what did you learned from our lesson today? line of longitude goes up and
What is the difference between latitude and longitude? down. They are through the North
Pole and South pole and the zero
degrees line of longitude is called
the prime meridian while the zero
degrees line of latitude is called the
equator
What are we going to use to locate places on the map? Were going to use coordinates to
locate places on the map.

What are the four directions that are present in The four directions are north,
locating coordinates? south, east and west.

When we point the coordinates, which goes first

latitude or longitude? latitude goes first then longitude.
