How does everyone feel

today?
We are all ok! Ma’am dan!
Well thank you for asking! I’m (Chorus) How about you
ok too. Anyways… ma’am?

4. Checking of Attendance

all about what? Ma’am, last meeting our topic
was frequency distribution.

Very Good! (Student will stand up)

A frequency distribution is a
way of presenting and
organizing the data collected
Again, what is frequency in tabular from using classes
distribution? and frequencies.

Nice! Very good!

What are the two types of Ma’am, the grouped data and
frequency distribution? the ungrouped data.

What is the difference between Ma’am, when we say

the ungrouped data and ungrouped data, it is beyond a
grouped data? sample size of 30 and it is
Clustered. Grouped data is
n≤30 it is categorical
So, are we clear about
frequency distribution?

Yes ma’am! (Chorus)

Computation, Middle, and Sum.
In our lesson for today,
We will find a solution to our

So, what do you think is our

topic for today? Any idea?

C. Discussing new Our topic for today is all about

concepts and Measures of Central Tendency
practicing new for Group Data.
skills #1
What are the tree measures of
central tendency? Ma’am, the mean, median, and
mode.

Grouped Data
• Frequencies of each
data point are clustered
in a specific class
interval.
• Beyond a sample size of
30
• Clustered.

Grouped data for Mean:

x=
∑ fxm
n
Where:
f = frequency of each
class interval
x m=¿ class mark
n = sum of observations
Steps to follow:
1. Find the midpoint of
each class x m
2. Multiply each frequency
by its corresponding
midpoint, fx m
3. Find the sum of the
products in step 2,
∑ fxm
4. Divide the sum in step 3
by the sum of the

frequencies,
∑ fx m
n
Determine the mean of the
given set of data shown in the
frequency distribution table
below.

Ma’am, find the Class mark!

What is our first step?

Very Good!

Step 1: Find the class mark x m, Lower Class Limit +Upper Class Limit
of each interval. 2
What is the formula for finding
the class mark?

Very good!

Lower Class Limit +Upper Class Limit

2 Ma’am, 60.

What is our lower class Limit?

Ma’am, 64.
Very Good?

What is our Upper class Limit?

Very Good!

We need to get the sum of

upper limit and lower limit
divided by 2. 2 is a constant.
Ma’am, 62
60+64
=¿
2
What is the correct answer?
Very Good!

So, our class mark is 62.

Step 2: Multiply each frequency
by its corresponding class fx m

What is the formula for finding Frequency X Class Mark= fx m

the fx m?
Very Good!
Frequency X Class Mark= fx m

Example 60-64 row: our

frequency is 2 and the class
mark is 62. All we need to do is
to multiply the frequency and
the class mark Ma’am, 124.
2 x 62=
Very good!
Our fx m=124

Step 3: find the sum of the

products in Step 2, ∑ fx m

Step 4: find the sum in step 3 by

n, the sum of the frequencies,
∑ fx m

6. Substitute the values
obtained in the formula
Determine the median of the
given set of data shown in the
frequency distribution table
below. Ma’am, n=50.
What is our n?

Step 1: construct the cumulative

frequency (cf ) column.

that contains 25th data point or
observation, which is in the
interval 75-79.

Step 3: Determine the value of

the cumulative frequency before
the median class, cf b

n
Note that cf b ≤

Is the median class

Step 5: Determine the lower

class boundary of the median
class, x lb
The median class is 75-79,
hence:
x lb=75-0.5=74.5

Step 6: Determine class width

i=5

x lb= lower class boundary of the
modal class
d 1= difference of the frequency
of the modal class and the class
interval
d 2= difference of the frequency
of the modal class and the next
class interval, which is after it
i= class width or class size
Steps to follow:
1. Determine the modal
class. The modal class
contains the highest
frequency in the
distribution
2. Find the value of d 1
3. Find the value of d 2
4. Determine the lower
boundary ( x lb) of the
modal class
5. Substitute the values
obtained in the formula

Determine the mode of the

given set of data shown in the
frequency distribution table

Step 1: Determine the modal

class. The modal class contains
the highest frequency in the
distribution. It is the interval 75-
79.

Step 2: Find the value of d 1

d 1=¿ 10-9=1

Step 3: Find the value of d 2

d 2=10-8=2

class

obtained in the formula

^x =x lb +
(d1
d 1+ d 2

)
^x =74.5+
1
1+2 ( )5
^x =74.5+1.67
What is the correct answer?
Ma’am, ^x =76.17 .
Very good!
^x =76.17

G. Valuing: Finding Now that you already know how
practical to get the mean, median, and
application of mode, how are you going to
concepts and connect this in your daily living?
skills in daily
living Does it matter? Yes ma’am!

I have here an example which

shows how they value and
connect this in real life situation.

Mean, Median, & Mode in

Human Resources

The mean, median, and mode

are often used by individuals
who work in Human Resource
departments at companies.

For example:

 Mean: Human Resource
managers often
calculate the mean
salary of individuals in a
certain field so that they
can know what type of
“average” salary to offer
to new employees.
 Median: Human
Resource managers also
often calculate the
median salary in certain
fields so that they can be
informed of what the
typical “middle” salary is
for a particular field.
 Mode: Human Resource
managers also calculate
the mode of different
positions in the company
so that they can be
aware of the most
common position of
employees at their
company.

H. Making Grouped data for Mean:
generalizations Steps to follow:
and abstractions 1. Find the midpoint of
about the lesson each class x m

What is x m? Ma’am, Class mark.

Very Good!

What is the formula for

finding the class mark? We need to get sum of lower
class limit and the upper class
Very good! limit and divided by 2.

2. Multiply each frequency

by its corresponding
midpoint, fx m The combination of Frequency
and Class mark
What is fx m?

What is the formula for We get the product of

finding the fx m? frequency and class mark.
Very good!

3. Find the sum of the

products in step 2,
∑ fxm
4. Divide the sum in step 3
by the sum of the

frequencies,
∑ fx m
n
Grouped data for Median:
Steps to follow:
1. Construct the cumulative
frequency column.

So, in getting our

cumulative frequency
we will look for the
number of our frequency
of every interval. The
first cumulative
frequency will be the
frequency of your first
interval and the second
cumulative frequency is
the sum of the
frequency of the first
and second interval and
for the third cumulative
frequency is the sum of
the frequency of your
first, second and third
interval. You will just be
going to repeat the
process until you reach
the last interval. Note
that the last cumulative
frequency is the total of
your frequency. That’s
best way to review your
cumulative frequency. The sum of frequency.

2. Determine of the total
2
n
number of values,
2
What is our n?
Very good.

The sum of the

frequency divided by 2
3. Determine the value of
the cumulative frequency
before the median class,
To determine the class width,
cf b
we need to get the two
4. Determine the frequency consecutive lower limits.
of the median class, f m
5. Determine class width I.
Who to find the class
width?

6. Substitute the values

obtained in the formula
Grouped Data for Mode:

class. The modal class
contains the highest
frequency in the
