III-Procedure

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Before we start let us all stand and pray. Who
wants to lead the prayer? Yes ______.
(the student and teacher pray Our Father)
2. Greetings
Good Morning Class! Good Morning ma’am Jolina
3. Classroom Conditioning
Class before you sit, kindly pick up the litters
under your chair and keep them in your bag. (the students pick up the litters and
Then check if the chairs are properly arranged. arrange their chairs)
1. Checking of Attendance
Before we start, let us check first your
attendance

Who is the secretary of the class? (The student tells who the secretary is.)

Mr. / Mrs. Secretary, Who are absent on your

section? (The secretary of the class tells all the
absentees on the class.)

Okay, thank you. Good Job class for having

almost a perfect attendance! Give yourself a
Good Job clap.

Students made a Good Job Clap!

5.Checking of Assignments
Okay class let us continue. Did I give
You an assignment?
No ma’am

Okay. We can now proceed.

Developmental Activities
Before we proceed to our discussion let us have a short
review of what we tackled yesterday?

Class what have you learned from our previous topic?

Anyone? Yes ______?
Ma’am yesterday we have learned the
circle.
Okay good, another, yes ____?
We learned also the different parts of a
circle and its measurement.
And these are radius, semicircle, arcs,
diameter, central angles and chord.
Very well answer! So I hope that most of you have the
same learning as your other classmates have. Okay?

Yes ma’am.
B. Motivation and Unlocking Difficulties
Okay now, as a continuation, I prepared here set of signs
that you can see or use during our whole discussion. They
are Mathematical signs that most of us were not familiar.
So please take note of this signs for able you will
remember it and be familiar.

So here it is.

≅ Approximately equal
⊥ perpendicular
∠ angle
⨀ circle
∩ arc
Line/ line segment
∟ 90˚ angle

Now that we have an idea about the different signs that is

present or you can see to our discussion, we are now ready
to our lesson proper.

Please listen carefully and take down notes that Yes ma’am.
may help you. Okay?
Lesson Proper
Let us start. Our discussion for today is just a continuation
of what we have discussed yesterday. Today we will
discuss about some theorems on Central angles, arcs and
chords.

But first let us discuss Congruent Circles and Congruent

arcs.
(student were listening)
Congruent circles are circles with congruent radii.
In our example, circle A and circle T is congruent circle.

MA is a radius of A

TH is a radius of T

If MA≅ TH, then A≅ T

They are congruent because their radius are said to be
congruent.

H
A T
M
Next are Congruent arcs.
These are arcs of the same circle or of congruent circles
with equal measures.

In this figure,
T
M 65°
I
65°
K S

N
65°
EW W

In I, arc TM ≅ arc KS
If circle I is ≅ circle E then arc TM ≅ arc NW
And arc TM ≅ arc NW also.
Yes ma’am.
Did you understand?

It is important to know this for able us to understand some

theorems we will go to study.

Okay let us proceed now to the theorems.

Theorems on Central Angles, Arcs and Chords. (student were listening)

1. In a circle or in congruent circles, two minor arcs
are congruent if and only if their corresponding
central angles are congruent.
T O
50˚ 50˚
S N

G
In circle B, angle SET is approximately (≅ ) to angle NEO.
Since the 2 central angles are congruent, the minor arcs
they intercepted are also congruent.

In our 2 figures, if circle E is approximately equal to circle

I then their angles or angle SET is approximately equal
angle NEO therefore angle BIG on the other circle is also (student will answer)
approximately equal to the 2 angles of circle E.
(The teacher Give more example on the board) Yes ma’am.

Okay class, did you understand?

Okay if you don’t have any question let us proceed to the

next theorem.

Theorem number 2.
2. In a circle or in congruent circles, two minor arcs
are congruent if and only if their corresponding
chords are congruent.

For example. In our figures Circle T and circle N

A

H
O
B

C E

In circle T on the rigt, Line BA is approximately equal to

line CH. Since the two chords are congruent, then arc BA
is ≅ arch CH.

And if circle T and circle N is congruent and line BA is ≅ (student will answer)
line CH therefore they are also congruent to line OE and
their corresponding arcs are also approximately equal.
Yes ma’am.
(The teacher Give more example on the board)

Okay class, did you understand?

Okay if you don’t have any question let us proceed to the
last theorem.

Theorem number 3.
3. In a circle, a diameter bisects a chord and an arc
with the same endpoints if and only if it is
perpendicular to the chord.

For able us to understand let us have an example.

In our figure, circle U

G S
U
U

E I

In circle U, line ES is a diameter and line GN is a chord. If (student will answer)

line ES is perpendicular to (⊥) line GN then line GI is
approximately equal to line IN and arc GE is also
approximately equal to arc EN.

(The teacher Give more example on the board)

Generalization
Okay class. Did you understand?
Yes ma’am.
Always remember in circles, always analyze the given
circles if they are congruent and if it is, you can now easily
identify the parts that is congruent to each other and in
times of there are solving you can easily get an idea of
what methods or techniques you will use to answer a given
problem.

Did you understand? Yes ma’am.

Do you have any question? None ma’am.
Okay, let us proceed now to your activity.
Evaluation
Assignment
For your assignment, please study our next lesson which is
the Arc Addition Postulate.
Okay ma’am.
Okay! Did you enjoy our class?
Yes ma’am
Let us call it a very knowledgeable and fun day!
Okay ma’am.

Thank you for attending my class today. Goodbye and see

you tomorrow!
Goodbye and thank you ma’am Jolina
