World History and Culture
Students with prociency in Spanish and Eng-
lish will gain a broad theoretical and practical
background in translation studies, as well as
practice in different types of translation (legal,
commercial, nancial, localization, political,
and medical translation). They will gain the
knowledge and transferable skills to become
effective translators in a professional capac-
ity as they cover essential terminology, com-
puter applications for translators, and issues
related to managing projects internationally
in individual and team-based environments.
For students interested in pursuing a career in
the global translation industry, the Translation

Students with prociency in Spanish and Eng-
lish will gain a broad theoretical and practical
background in translation studies, as well as
practice in different types of translation (legal,
commercial, nancial, localization, political,
and medical translation). They will gain the
knowledge and transferable skills to become
effective translators in a professional capac-
ity as they cover essential terminology, com-
puter applications for translators, and issues
related to managing projects internationally
in individual and team-based environments.
For students interested in pursuing a career in
the global translation industry, the Translation
Studies program at University College is an
ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience
necessary to perform effectively in this chal-
lenging and competitive eld, including a pro-
fessional practicum experience. Completion of
the Translation Studies program satises the
American Translators Association (ATA) edu-
