HOW TO SAFELY PUT ON PERSONAL PROTECTIVE

EQUIPMENT (PPE)

DONNING ACCORDING TO CDC


-It is important to received training, demonstrate
competencies and practice donning procedure

Before putting on PPE perform hand hygiene by using a


alcohol based sanitizer or washing hands in soap and
water for at least 20 seconds.

1. ISOLATION GOWN
- tie all ties or snaps all snaps

2. RESPIRATOR
- When using respirator with nose piece fit it
on the nose using hands.
- Do not bend the respirator
- Extend the respirator under the chin
protecting the mouth and nose.
- Pull the top strap over the head placing it
on the crown
- Pull the bottom strap of the respirator
placing it on the top of the neck
- Lastly perform a user seal check by using
the hands to cover the surface of the
respirator and gently exhale. Checking the
face piece bulge slightly
- Then while keeping the hands over the
respirator take a quick deep breath,
checking the face piece collapse slightly.
- If air escapes through the edges readjust
the fit of the respirator and perform again a
user seal check. Do this each time you put
respirator on.
A. FACE MASK
- If respirator if not available
- Extend the face mask under the chin
protecting the mouth and nose.
- If the mask has loops hook it around the
ears. If it has ties secure them on the base
of the neck and the crown of the head.

3. FACE SHIELD OF GOOGLES


- Place it properly

4. GLOVES
- put on gloves, pull the gloves down so it
covers the wrist of the gown.
