“The Unfortunate life of Adie”


In a small rural area of America lived a girl named Adie. She was on her third year of college taking up
a degree in Medical School. Her parents met in an online platform, her mother is a Filipina and her stepfather
was an American citizen. Back in the Philippines she was living a poor life; they barely manage to eat at least
three times a day. She was physically and verbally abused by her biological parents. She almost experienced
everything in a young age and it made a big impact of how she is towards her parents versus other people. She’s
the girl who’s not easy to love and understand. She overthinks a lot. She’s a ticking time bomb. She’s nervous
and spontaneous all at once.
As she was on her way out of her bedroom, she once again looks at her reflection on the vanity mirror
and let out a big sigh then made her way out to the kitchen to fetch a sandwich before her mother can see her
and nag early in the morning. She started to walk to the train station alone, reached for her earphones on the
pocket of her oversized jeans and plugged it into her ears and then maximizes the volume of her sad music. She
bumped into some people of her age; she immediately smiled and greeted them like she was the most joyful and
unproblematic person in the whole wide world. She walked with them to the train station and into their
university chitchatting about their academic activities.
