“Coffee Shop”

Its twelve o’clock noon of a busy Monday. Adie an owner of a famous coffee shop in the center
of Manila has encountered customers that caught her attention not because of their physical
appearance but because of the bodyguards that lined up outside and some that occupied the other
tables. Automatically, Adie assumed that they are not like some of her normal customers. She
asked her workers to continue their works and she would be the one to assist their new
customers.

As she approached their table, she noticed that they are all good looking and then she also hopes
that they’re nice and approachable. Adie came up to their table and bowed her head and hand the
menu.

Adie: Good afternoon ma’am and sir! Here’s our menu, I’ll come back to get your orders once
your decided.

They’ve said thanks and smiled. After several minutes they signaled Adie to come back and get
their order.

Adie: What are your orders ma’am and sir?

Shine: I want a large caramel macchiato and one strawberry cheesecake, please.

Adrian: One Americano and a dozen chocolate chip cookies.

Samuel: Mine is a large Java Chip frappe and a slice of your blueberry cheesecake.

Adie: Is that all?

Shine: Yes that’s it.

Adie: Your orders are one large caramel macchiato and a strawberry cheesecake, Americano and
a dozen chocolate chip cookies. Lastly, a large Java Chip Frappe and a blueberry cheesecake.
Am I right? Please wait for several minutes we will be serving your orders shortly. Thank you!

Adie walked away from them to the counter. When Adrian called her again and then asked.

Adrian: Hey Miss! Got milk? Can I have one glass for my cookies?

Adie: Definitely sir. Coming right up!

Adie pass their orders to their barista and the other worker prepared the cakes and cookies that
they’ve ordered. While waiting for their drinks, Adie overheard Shine’s conversation with
someone on the phone.

Shine: Hello? Yes this is Shine of State Farm. Hello? Hello? Can You Hear Me Now? Good.

Shine: Yes, we help the world grow the food it needs. Like a good neighbor, state farm is
there.

Shine: By purchasing at State Farm you can save money and live better. Don’t worry you’re in
good hands. We can do what you can’t.

Shine: I’m lovin’ it! Thank you very much! My secretary will send you the other details. I am
looking forward for our meeting tomorrow.

Shine: Oh, that was easy! Phew.

Adie cannot believe that their customer is the owner of the big company named State Farm. They
are supplying and helping local farmers to grow their crops and to sell it to the market for a
reasonable price. The company was known for their bosses that are very kind and responsible for
each and every worker they have. Adie called her other worker and asked for their Polaroid
camera.

Adie: Is it in you? Ariel?

Ariel: Yes ma’am. I’ll get it right away.

Adie also got their orders complete and they’ve delivered it to their table carefully and politely
asked for their permission to have a photo with her, as a remembrance of their visit. Shine and
his brothers answered with no hesitation. Adie and her worker left their table after to let them eat
privately.

[SHINE’S POINT OF VIEW]

Shine: Hey Adrian! What’s in your wallet? Do you have cash on hand? I forgot to bring some
and it looks like they don’t accept my bank here.

Adrian: There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's MasterCard.
(Laughing)

Samuel: (laughing) that was smooth, brother. You just do it without any hesitation huh?

Adrian: Every little helps. I don’t live life without it. (Laughing)
Shine: Okay! We know you think different. You’re definitely crazy. We have a crazy brother
y’all.

Samuel and Adrian laughed and they all proceeded to eat their orders. While eating Shine cannot
help but to express her feeling with the quality and the taste of their food.

Shine: Oh my God! This is I think one of the best Strawberry Cheesecake that I’ve tasted and
their caramel macchiato is superb.

Samuel: I agree, it melts in your mouth, not in your hands.

Adrian: Oh! Once you get the taste of these cookies? I betcha’ can't eat just one!

Shine: Finish up guys. We need to go home! Mommy’s calling already. Let’s just not forget to
take out some for mommy and daddy to try too.

Adrian: I’ll go pay our bill and see what we can buy for mom and dad.

Shine: Okay, have it your way!

Adrian stands up and goes to the counter where Adie is standing. He approached Adie and said
that he would pay for their bill.

Adie: You’re total bill sir is 3,456.

Adrian: I’ll pay with card, miss? What’s your name? You’re the owner right?

Adie: My name is Adie sir, and yes I am the owner. Thank you for choosing our coffee shop, we
are very glad to serve you, your brother and your girlfriend.

Adrian burst out of laughing by what Adie has said. When he already snapped out of it, he faced
Adie that is looking so confused by his action.

Adrian: Miss Adie that is not my girlfriend, that’s my sister.

Adie: Oh my God! I’m so sorry sir! I just thought that you’re on a date or something.

Adrian: No worries! Anyway I would like to take out another dozen of your cookies and one of
each slices of your available cake.

Adie: Right away sir!

Adrian: Thank you for your good service and you’re food? It’s more than good, it’s great.
Adie was very shy by her mistake and at the same time very happy because of Adrian’s
compliment to her coffee shop. So she was blushing behind the counter, but it doesn’t escaped
Adrian’s eyes.

Adrian: You’re very pretty, Miss Adie when you’re blushing. (Laughing)

Adrian: Seriously? You’re the kind of girl that I like. Are you single? Can I take you out for a
dinner?

Adie’s jaw dropped as in literally. She never expected something like him to be asking her and
complimenting how pretty she is. Adie just laughed awkwardly and returned his card.

Before Adrian and his siblings come out at her coffee shop. Adrian shouted to Adie.

Adrian: I am serious Miss Adie! Remember my offer. I’ll get back to you soon.

He waved goodbye and leave like he didn’t do anything. Adie was completely shocked and
cannot react for at least good 10 minutes.
