I feel proud to see that the Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS) within a short
span of 3 years has reached a landmark in its academic endeavors by producing the two batches of MBA (Hospital &
Health Care Management) and MBA (Executive) graduates who received their degrees in 2017 and recently in
December 2018.
The IOHBMSS has obtained NOC from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for the MBA (HHCM) and
recently for MS in Management Sciences degree programs. The academic programs of IOHBMSS aim at meeting the
demand of management and administrative skills among professionals from various areas especially in the health and
business sectors. It is a point of contentment that the Institute has done well so far and is raising its academic quality
and standards.
The faculty team of the Institute of Health and Business Management is carrying out its teaching services very
professionally. The IOHBMSS is inducting its fifth batch this year. I confidently hope that the students who will join
this Institute will feel the difference and will learn valuable academic and professional knowledge and skills. I
appreciate administrative and management capabilities of Prof. Dr. M. Abuzar Wajidi, Director IOHBMSS for his
contribution in the admirable sustainability of this institute.

Sciences (IOHBMSS), Jinnah Sindh Medical University. The Institute is offering quality education for the degree

Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) is one of the leading higher education institutes of the country. It is
encouraging to note down that the Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS)
during the last four years has made significantly admirable progress by imparting quality education to its students.
This is reflective of the tremendous efforts the Director, faculty team and the administrative staff of the Institute to
maintain the standards of quality education.
My best wishes to the new entrants to the IOHBMSS, an institute that carries the mission to strive for quality in

INTRODUCTION
Jinnah Sindh Medical University came into existence on 1st June, 2012 by the Governor of Sindh Article No. IV of 2012
issued by the Ordinance of Honorable Governor of Sindh in the presence of the President of Pakistan and the Chief
Minister of Sindh. The Act of University was passed by Sindh Assembly in March 2013 after several years tireless efforts
of the JSMU top management and the SMC Alumni. SMC was finally upgraded to university status. This university is
progressing gradually and significantly and has achieved prominence among the high ranking universities of the country
based on its performance, especially transparent admission process and vigilant examination system. The university has
plans to expand its infrastructure and faculty team.
The Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS) established in 2015 proudly acclaims
that after its first batch of MBA (Executive) having passed out in 2017, the 2nd batch of MBA (Executive) and first and
second batches of MBA (Hospital & Health Care Management) have passed out in 2018. This is remarkable achievement
of the IOHBMSS and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.
As an important achievement, the IOHBMSS has obtained NOC from the Higher Education Commission, Islamabad for
the MBA (HHCM) and recently for MS in Management Sciences degree programs. This aspect is a great source of
confident of students in the IOHBMSS and JSMU in terms of recognition of their academic degrees.

The interview/ Entry test will be held at Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences (IOHBMSS).
Interview will be conducted only for the eligible candidates.
Interview for all required categories will be valid only for the current session of admission.
No candidate will be allowed to appear in the test/interview without admit card.
Students will only be allowed to appear in the interview after they have appeared in the written test

The system of studies and examinations at the Institute of Health & Business Management and Social Sciences
(IOHBMSS) shall be based on Semester System. Details of the semester rules and regulations are as follows:
1.2 Courses
Each course will have a number, short title and number of Credit Hours (Cr. Hrs.). A number once denoted, shall not be
changed even if course is withdrawn or abolished.
ii. The Examination schedule, including any change in the examination schedule, will be the prerogative of the
University.
iii. The terminal examination shall carry 50 marks. The course in-charge shall be responsible for question-setting and
assessment of the answer scripts. The course in-charge is required to submit two question papers in the office of the
Director, 20 days before the examination scheduled for the paper. The questions papers will be moderated by Director
in coordination with senior faculty members.

iv. After moderation of question papers, the same will be forwarded to Examinations Department for printing.
v. The Examinations Department shall be responsible to conduct the Terminal Examinations, arrangement of
examination halls and invigilators as per the examinations schedule. After end of examinations, the Department of
Examinations will perform coding of the answer scripts. After coding, these scripts will be assessed by the course in-
charge.
vi. Passing marking are 60%. It is mandatory for the students to achieve at least 40% marks (i.e. 20 out of 50
marks) in the terminal examination.
i. A minimum 75 percent attendance in each course is mandatory. In case of short attendance, such students will not be
eligible to appear in the examination of the courses they are short of attendance.
ii. Clearance of all university dues.
i. Promotion will be declared on yearly basis i.e. after completion of two consecutive semesters each year.
ii. Promotion to next semester will be based on passing at least 60 percent courses in each year.
iii. In case where a student fails to pass at least 60% courses in two consecutive semesters in an academic year, such
student will not be promoted to next semester.
i. A student who falls to clear at least 60 percent courses in a semester will be considered as a Repeater for such courses in
the upcoming semesters.
ii. Such repeater students will have to appear in all the midterm examinations of the respective course(s) in which (s)he
was declared failed.
iii. A student is allowed to avail five (05) attempts to clear any failed course. In case of failure to clear the failed paper(s)
even after five attempts, such student will cease to pursue further studies at IOHBMSS.
iv. In case o failure above mentioned criteria, this condition may be subjected at the discretion of Vice Chancellor's
approval.
i. Results of Midterm Examination of each course signed by the course in-charge and the Director IOHBMSS will be
announced by the course in-charge.
ii. Results of Terminal Examinations will be conducted by the Department of Examinations, JSMU and announced by the
Controller of Examinations.
iii. The awards will be announced by the Department of Examinations. After receipt of awards, the student, in case of
dissatisfaction with the marks, will have the right to appeal for scrutiny within seven days of the announcement of such
award, to the Controller of Examinations through Director IOHBMSS.
The Department of Examinations, JSMU will issue mark sheet of Semester Examinations and degrees.
These rules are applicable to all students who are admitted to the Jinnah Sindh Medical University, and include
undergraduate and postgraduate students.
1. No outsider will be invited by the student to address any meeting at the University or its Constituent
college/institute/school, hospital etc whether academic, social, religious or political [without prior written permission
of the authorities). Decisions of authorities will be final and taken on case to case basis.
2. Students are not allowed to paste any poster, pamphlet or fix banners on the wall.
Graffito walls (wall chalking) of the premises of the University or its constituent college/institute / school, hospital etc
be they, academic social, religious or political, are also not allowed.
3. During teaching hours students are prohibited to play roam around in the premises.
4. No students or groups of students shall arrange any program. Picnic, musical concert, Sports, etc, on their own, without
prior written permission from the authorities.
5. University Identity Card. (ID) should be displayed, at all times, when the students are in the premises of the University.
Faculty members and security staff are authorized to check the I.D. cards at any time.
6. If any students want to publish his/her scientific or literary article, he/she must get the draft approved, by the
authorities. They are also required to submit the copy of the final article / paper (to be published) for record purposes to
the university.
7. Students are forbidden to address higher authorities directly. Any communication Intended for higher authorities, must
be routed through proper channel [Vice Chancellor/ Principal/ Dean/Director).
8. Unless specifically permitted, no students or group of students are allowed to enter administrative and department
offices / telephone exchange, or teaching areas.
9. Students are required to attain 75% attendance in the course for appearing in the examination.
Any students indulging in conduct contrary to the above mentioned rules shell be dealt with in Accordance with the
Jinnah Sindh Medical University Conduct Rules and the procedure Mentioned below:
1. Each constituent of faculty will have a Disciplinary Committee to be notified with the approval of the Vice Chancellor
to deal with all the disciplinary matters.
2. The Dean/Director on sue moto or on any complaint may initiate action against any Student of the college and refer the
case to the Disciplinary Committee of the faculty for appropriate recommendation.
3. Before taking any action, the Dean/Director shall serve a show cause notice to student indicating briefly the charges
against him. The accused student will have to give written reply within seven days. He/ She will be given a chance for
personal hearing after which the Dean/Director of the constituent faculty is empowered to suspend, rusticate or expel
such student from the Institute.
4. The student to whom the Dean/Director suspended, rusticated or expelled from the Faculty may appeal to the Vice
Chancellor against the decision of the Dean within 30 days
5. Any student whose name appears in the F.I.R. pertaining to any non bail able offence as specified in the criminal
procedure code (Cr. P. C.J will be suspended. During the Pending period of the case he/she will not be allowed is or
take up any examination.

EXPULSION:
Remains absent for more than three months without permission of the principal/Director/Dean, his/her admission shall be
cancelled by the disciplinary committee of that faculty/institute.

Note:
Application form should be submitted along with required documents at the Institute of Health & Business
Management and a Challan of Rs.1,000/- in favor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University (IOHBM) as interview and
processing fees, non-refundable to be Paid at HBL, JPMC Branch.
The Admit Card for the interview will be issued to the candidates from at the IOHBM from 9 am to 2 pm. (Friday
up to 12:30 pm)
