The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought sudden changes to human life
and created a global health crisis. It has been a year of experiencing such crisis and everyone
is adjusting to the new ways of life. In response to the pandemic protocols for everyone’s sake,
people have to learn to adopt with the new normal that basically changes people’s lifestyle and
routines.

One thing in which people are challenged in this time of crisis is the inability to have a
face to face class in any level. Thus, educational system in the Philippines and even in other
countries has been changed from a face-to-face modality to online class / modular distance
learning. All schools have to follow this in order to keep everyone safe from infecting the virus.
All schools adopts the new learning modalities implemented by the DepEd to make sure that
certain health protocols set by the Department of Health are all followed and observed.

I cannot say that everything is easy, especially on how I would make sure that learning
happens and how to assess their learning amid the current situation. However, I have to give
my best, as a teacher, to impart learning to the students. Thus, I would say that the two
learning modalities implemented in our school is helping a lot in helping the kids learn. Classes
may not as effective as face-to-face, but the school is giving out its best to provide the needs
of the learners academically, and at the same time trying to develop the learners holistically. I
am challenged to do my best in assessing the pupils’ learning though the use of two distance
learning modalities – Modular Distance Learning and Online Distance Learning. Monitoring the
pupils’ progress through the use of technology such as cellphones, laptops, and computers is
so much beneficial. Home visitation is also helpful.
