“It’s the teacher that makes the difference, not the

classroom”

In light of the emergence of contagious variants of COVID-19 in the country,

implementation of limited face-to-face classes is not possible. But the government
find ways to continue uplifting high quality of education to all Filipino learners. As
part of our requirement is ou FS 1 , we the 3rd year students of DWCV are mandatory
to attend online classes to observe our resource teacher on how she deal with the new
normal set up of education through blended learning.
I can say that our teachers in DWCV are very good in teaching even in virtual
setting. I observed that our resource teacher used lecture-discussion strategy in
teaching which I think also the most applicable and effective strategy in online class
setting.
The lecture-discussion strategy is founded on the cognitive theory of education
which believes the students internally organize and process the information they
receive,thus making them active participants in the learning process. (Wilen, 2004;
Engles and Ochoa, as cited in Larson, 2000).

Under this strategy, students explore ideas and concepts, develop lower and
higher order thinking skills, engage in problem-solving and develop informed
opinions based on evidence.
