MANDATORY MILESTONES

(The use of these milestones is mandatory; Every Project must include these milestones
as a minimum requirement)

1. Product Design Specification (PDS) available

All relevant sections of the PDS have been completed and PDS issued.

2. Feasibility Study Completed (PR1)

The concept phase of the project has been completed and approved by the Project
Sponsors.

3. Prototypes Approved (PR2)

The development phase of the project has been completed and approved by the
Project Sponsors.

4. Production Tooling / Packaging and Components Approved

All first off production parts (including packaging) have been approved for volume
production in accordance with company procedures.

5. Approval to Build (PR3)

Approval to build production volumes or finished product has been granted by the
relevant Technical representative and Project Sponsor.

6. Approval to Sell (PR4)

Approval to sell finished product granted by the relevant Technical Manager in
conjunction with the Project Sponsor and Marketing Product Manager.

7. Product Launched
The full range of products is available for sale.

8. Product Transfer to Production complete (PR5)

All tooling, manufacturing and quality processes are complete and capable of
reliably and consistently producing products, and Operations Director has given
approval.

9. Project Signed off (PR6)

Project is closed and project team disbanded. No further expenditure will be made
against the project budget and the project file is archived.
 OPTIONAL MILESTONE DEFINITIONS

(The use of these milestones is not mandatory, though if used, their definitions will be as
follows)

Design Layout Completed

Concept has been chosen. All drawings available showing parts and positioning of parts.
(Not fully dimensioned at this stage)..

Prototype Detail Drawings Completed

Detailed drawings have been sufficiently dimensioned to produce prototype parts.

Prototype Components Approved

Prototype parts have been inspected and are to drawing.

Detailed Drawings Completed

All component, sub assembly, MAs and part lists for production products have been
completed.

Supplier Negotiations Completed

Potential suppliers have been found and discussions with them regarding our requirements
have been completed.

Suppliers Selected
Suppliers have proved that they can supply what we require and are happy for them to
supply production parts when an order is placed.

Production B.O. Parts Approved

Production parts not made by DBK, but by approved suppliers, have been inspected and
are to drawing.

Assembly Jigs, Fixtures and Gauges Approved

All jigs, fixtures and gauges have been checked and trialed on production parts and
approved fit for purpose.

Financial Appraisal Approved

Necessary signatories have approved the financial appraisal results.

Pre-production Samples Available for Test

Hand assembled products made from approved production components are available for
testing.

Prototype Product Testing Complete

The specified tests in the prototype test programme have been completed, and a report of
performance issued.
In House Production Parts Approved
All in house production parts have been checked and approved fit for purpose.

Declaration of Conformity Issued

The Company has issued an official Declaration of Conformity to a specific standard.

Quality Plan Approved

The Company Quality Manager has approved a plan listing all materials, components,
assemblies and identifying quality checks.

Packaging Approved
Packaging samples have been approved as meeting the specification.

Instruction Leaflets Approved

Instruction leaflets have been approved by the Technical representative and by Marketing.

Labeling Approved
Labels have been approved.

Promotional Literature Available

All promotional literature required for launch has been approved and delivered.

Process Specification Completed

The complete specification of how to manufacture or buy, inspect and test all products
from the raw material stage to delivery to the Customer is now available.

Plant Approval
All plant and equipment necessary for the manufacture of the product has been approved
in house.

Production Line Commissioned

All plant and equipment has been installed together with assembly benches and all
associated jigs and fixtures. Operator training has been completed.

Type Testing Completed Successfully

A representative product from normal production has been successfully tested to a
Product Standard.

Patent Applied For

A patent application has been filed.
Design Registration Applied For.
An application for Design Registration has been filed.

Launch Volumes Defined

Launch volume requirements defined for all products covered by the project and agreed
by the relevant Marketing Product Manager.

Marketing Launch Plan Available

A launch plan document has been produced by Marketing detailing all logistical/financial
and timescale targets for the product launch.

Strategies Agreed
The strategies and policies governing the project have been defined and agreed by the
Project Sponsor.

Capital-expenditure Approved
The capital-expenditure proposal document has been submitted to and approved by the
Company Managing Director.

All Training Completed

The training considered necessary for the successful completion of the project has been
identified and completed.

PDS 1st Draft Completed

The initial draft PDS document has been produced for comment.

Resource Requirements Identified

The resource requirements for the successful completion of the project have been
estimated to enable budgeting and justification.
