Group Written Report

The SBA process began with our teacher issuing the various topics and grouping us by
our selections. From there forth, each group member individually selected their sub-
topic. It was easy to gather artifacts that relate to our sub-topics, as they are all broadly
studied. Lastly, our teacher guided us along the process of writing our reflections as
we weren’t aware of what it should entail.

The topic chosen for our English SBA was “Technology”. Our group was able to
carefully pick out three artifacts from the cluster by deciding which were most
impactful. This was done by a process of fair voting and elimination. Thus, the three
artifacts chosen were a poem, an audio visual and a pictorial representation.

In the poem entitled ‘Twas the Day of Distance Learning, written by Chris Skierski,
the poet seems to be a parent describing their first experience with their child and
online school. The poet used formal language; along with personification and visual
imagery to paint a representation of the experience in our minds.

The video “How Social Media and Technology Are Affecting the Church - John
MacArthur” published on YouTube on Sep 10, 2020 , digs into concepts of social
media won't help us as the church of God. The language used is formal. This speaker
uses comparison as he compares social media vs God .

The other artifact, a pictorial representation, illustrator anonymous, depicts how social
media distracts us from real time communication and reality on a whole, resulting in
failed relationships and loss of communication skills. Imagery and formal language
were evident; the use of these device made the viewer picture the components of the
devices making the artifact easier to comprehend.
