UCSP | Marx Leo Agaton | HUMSS 12A | Q2 - M11 Addressing Social Inequality

WHAT I CAN DO
(2 stanza poem about my suggestion on how to address social inequality during this covid-19 pandemic.)

Every One of Us
There are no seeds in the sky, it’s on the ground to where we live
So why are we looking up so much to those superior, famous, wealthy, and prestige?
When the needy is on our feet, hopeless and at the verge of death.
Are we blind or we just tend to avoid seeing those deprived?
It’s the inequality suppressing our society to be in its best
We’re toxic, sexist, racist, narrow-minded creature
And everyone knows about it, every one of us.

At this darkest moment let’s look down at sometimes

Help them catch up through equal opportunity
Regardless of anything they’re human, we are all human.
Imagine how amazing it would be
If everyone is happy, safe, and healthy
We are entitled to live with our own rights
No one owns this country, but us. Every one of us.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
(Cut and paste one photo that corresponds to each type of Social Inequalities. Briefly describe each photo.) Images credits to its rightful owner

1. Inequality of outcome
The picture is divided into two parts the upper
where the well-groomed people are walking by
while beneath them are the people mining or
doing risky jobs. It shows that an individual does
not have the same level of material wealth or
overall living economic condition compared to
others.

2. Treatment inequality
The image implies that some people benefit
more privileges than others. There is a
disparity in access to public health, housing,
and social security service.

3. Opportunity inequality
The image clearly shows that people living in the same
society do not have the same access to the same
opportunities because of their social location.

4. Political inequality
Political inequality pertains unequal ability
to access governmental resources and
unequal political participation.

5. Membership
inequality Groups in the society do not
experience equality in value.
Like in this picture. People are
protesting about “Black Lives
Matter” because their group
receive unequal treatment in the
society. They are not being
valued as other groups in the
society. #BLACKLIVESMATTER
