SUBJECT ARC 421: DESIGN PROJECT - 8 **

SYLLABUS:

Design of a multifunctional complex of buildings in the metropolitan context. Issues

related to the growing problems of urban areas in third world countries and their
future development shall be explored. Emphasis on the design with relation to the
contextual environment, traffic and planning controls and impact analysis. An
understanding of the architectural implications of such developmental scheme should
lead to insights in the formulation of political and administrative policies for the
development of the physical environment. The design problems may include projects
like Re-densification, campus planning, factories, ‘place’ design etc.

SEMESTER DESIGN PROJECT FOR SECTION “A” & “B” IVTH. B. ARCH.

You all young professionals are required to:

a) carefully read above syllabus (present through flow chart)
b) identify live projects through various web sites, professional
architecture & planning / construction companies / firms.
c) study & analyze all statutory legal norms, bye laws, codes.
d) identify relevant two case studies: (i) National and (I)
International.
e) prepare base map on latest google map with statement of
areas.
f) present an innovative concept based on GRIHA norms.
g) the entire concept to be first composed with 3 D images
h) compose above 3 D images on photoshop with live site
images.

NOTE:
For any clarification regarding above assignment all young professionals are required
to attend classes regularly and keep asking doubts. Further, detailed instructions will
be given from time to time in classes (lectures) / (tutorials).
