 Pixies
An enchanted race born of raw fey magic, pixies are
the diminutive fairy folk of the Feywild. Under the
direction of the Court of Stars, they etch the
patterns of frost on the winter ponds and rouse the
buds in springtime. They cause flowers to grow and
sparkle with summer dew, and they color the leaves
with the blazing hues of autumn. Some believe that
the pixies stole the secret of honey from the mead
goblet of the Summer Queen, then sold it to the
bees. It is said that they taught the birds to fly and
to sing. These childlike sprites have a penchant for
mischievous fun, and there is no game a pixie will
not play, no sport it will not attempt, and no revelry
it will avoid or decline.
Small and Graceful
Pixies resemble diminutive elves with gossamer
wings. These wings sprout from their backs like
those of dragonflies or butterflies, but are grander
and more beautiful than either. Pixie wings come
in as many colors as there are shapes to dreams.
Despite their almost insubstantial quality, they are
as bright as the clear dawn and as luminous as
the full moonrise. Pixies rarely appear to onlookers
unless they wish to be seen, and other people who
happen to spot a pixie are astonished at the first
sight of these tiny fey. When pixies fly, a shower of
sparkling dust follows in their wake like the
glittering tail of a shooting star. Pixie dust is said to
be composed of the dreams of the living forest, the
gold of the brightest sunbeams, and the starlight
cast upon lovers. When such elements are
combined as one, they elevate the soul and grant
the ability to fly. Pixies’ eyes come in as many
different colors as their wings. When pixies interact
with mortals in the world, their eyes appear to have
pupils. However, the natural state of a pixie’s eye is
a single glittering orb like that of an eladrin. Pixies
wear light, ephemeral clothing that grants
maneuverability while they fly. Noble pixies
array themselves like princes and princesses of the
fey, wearing flowing gowns and doublets of spider
and caterpillar silk that sparkle like moonlight on
a pond. Wild pixies dress themselves in acorns,
leaves and bark, and the pelts of woodland beasts.
Warlike pixies prefer armor made of acorns, insect
chitin, leather, the scales of reptiles, stiff bark,
or fine mithral mail. Pixies array themselves like
princes and princesses of the fey, wearing flowing
gowns and doublets of silk that sparkle like moon-
light on a pond. Some dress in acorns, leaves, bark,
and the pelts of tiny woodland beasts. They take
great pride in their regalia and beam with joy when
they are complimented on their ensembles. Pixies
can however be very hurt if you insult their
creations, the more warlike pixies might even
become outright hostile.

Playful and Mischievous
Curious as cats and shy as deer, pixies go where
they please. They like to spy on other creatures and
can barely contain their excitement around them.
The urge to introduce themselves and strike up a
friendship is almost overwhelming; only a pixie’s
fear of being captured or attacked stays its hand.
Those who wander through a pixie’s glade might
never see the creatures, yet hear the occasional
giggle, gasp, or sigh.
While the arrival of visitors piques their curiosity,
pixies are too shy to reveal themselves at first. They
study the visitors from afar to gauge their
temperament or play harmless tricks on them
to measure their reactions. For example, pixies
might tie a dwarf’s boots together, create illusions
of strange creatures or treasures, or use danc-
ing lights to lead interlopers astray. If the visitors
respond with hostility, the pixies give them a wide
berth. If the visitors are friendly, the pixies are
likely to be emboldened and more friendly. The fey
might even emerge and offer to guide their “guests”
along a safe route or invite them to a tiny yet
satisfying feast prepared in their honor.
Pranks and Duties
In the world, pixies make their homes in deep for-
ests or hidden grottos beneath the hills, far beyond
the sight of other humanoids. In these places,
pixies cast their shimmering lights to color their
domains in incandescent hues, gradually
shifting from soft red to bright yellow to deep violet
and back again. Some say that the realms of the
pixies are the places where rainbows begin and
end, and those rainbows are pixie roads emanating
from the light of the kingdoms they connect, which
can be seen by mortals only when the sun shines
through the rain. Though pixies prefer to keep out
of sight, they can be found almost anywhere in the
Feywild. As intrinsically magical as they are whim-
sical, pixies enhance the world around them with
their presence. At the beginning of time, the Court
of Stars passed down decrees on each type of pixie,
charging it with duties to uphold in the Feywild.
Some pixies brush the flower petals with morning
dew, while others are responsible for conjuring the
evening mists. Some are charged with awakening
the winking stars in the night sky, while others
paint each sunset into a masterpiece of vivid colors.
Such labors keep pixies focused on putting their
magic to benevolent uses, rather than becoming a
source of pure mischief. Pixies in the world carry
these traditions over with them. A creature that
strays near a pixie home finds the world more alive
somehow, thrumming with life, color, and
breathtaking natural beauty.
Pixie Names
Pixies name themselves after plants and animals of
the woodlands. Male pixies generally take names of
things that are strong or stinging, while female
pixies usually choose to names themselves after
things that are beautiful or nurturing.
Male Names: Barleycorn, Briarthorn, Buckthorn,
Dogwood, Hawthorn, Hayseed, Hazelwood, Hoarfrost,
Juniper, Maplesap, Mistlethrush, Nettle, Pinecone,
Sparrowhawk, Thistledown.
Female Names: Appleblossom, Bluebell, Cobweb, Cot-
tonwood, Dewdrop, Heartsease, Holly, Hyacinth, Ivy,
Larksong, Lilyflower, Mistletoe, Moth, Mustardseed,
Peasblossom, Willowbough.
All of these names are what Pixies pick themselves
to be known as to others. When born in the Feywild
though, they are given other birth names. These
names are only known to the Pixie itself.
Pixie Traits
Ability Score Increase: Your Dexterity score increases
by 2 and Charisma score increases by 1.
Age: Pixies do not age as normal races do, and after
reaching maturity they do not die except from wound
or disease. They reach adulthood at the age of 16.
Alignment: Almost all pixies are good with the cha-
otic ideals of freedom in simply having fun and
enjoying life being at the forefront of their desires.
Size: Pixies look similar to elves but stand barely a
foot tall. Your size is Tiny.
Speed: Your base walking speed is 15 feet. With
wings out, your limited flying speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision: Living mostly outdoors and outside of
traditional lighting, you have superior vision in dark
or dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60
feet of you as if you were in bright light, and in
darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern
color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Nature’s Child: The children of the Feywild have a
natural gift for the outside world. You are proficient
in the Nature skill.
Languages: You can speak, read and write Common
and Sylvan.
Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws
against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to
sleep.

Pixie Magic: You automatically shrink objects, not
currently held or worn by others, sized for medium
or small creatures to suit your size while it is carried
by you. While shrunk, gear and weapons can be used
normally. Letting go of shrunk items automatically
restores them to their original size.
Fight or Flight: Due to adventuring Pixies adopting
the use of weapons, armor, spell books and carrying
everything with them, their natural flight is limited.
Expanding and retracting your wings in and out of
your back takes one bonus action, but you gain 30
feet limited flying movement speed. If you fly for
more than 10 minutes, or high enough where a
normal medium sized creature can’t reach, you gain a
level of exhaustion.
Exposed wings: Whenever a Pixie is the target of a
critical hit, or takes its maximum hit points in
damage from a single damage source, you must
make a DC 13 Dexterity Saving Throw. On a fail, the
attack and damage cuts your wings off, removing
your hovering and potential flying ability, the ability
to use Attacks of opportunity and similar reactions.
Due to your natural Pixie magic, your wings will
regrow over the course of a long rest.
Tiny creatures: Due to pixies size, friendly or hostile
creatures larger than you can move through your
occupied space without any penalties. Moving away
from your attack range can still provoke attacks of
opportunity. Due to their size, despite being able to
shrink items thanks to Pixie magic, Pixies are unable
to use Heavy weapons. If they try, the attacks will be
made at disadvantage and each swing followed by a
DC 13 Constitution Saving Throw. On a failed save, the
Pixies wings will lose their ability to fly for one round.
Pixie Spellcasting: Pixies are magical in origin and all
of them know a few spells. At level 1, Pixies learn the
Dancing Lights cantrip to confuse their enemies. This
can be used unlimited times as any cantrip.
Once a Pixie reaches level 3, they have the natural
ability to make themselves Invisible as if they cast
the Invisibility spell on themselves. Once you use this
feat, you must finish a long rest before you can use it
again.

 Trait specifications
Pixies are Fey creatures. For the purpose of spells
they are considered to be both Humanoid and Fey.
Thus they can be targeted by spells such as Charm
or Hold Person, but are also affected by Protection
from Evil and Good.
Pixie Magic is something that Pixies can not control,
but it does not put the Pixie in danger. Walking on
a floor, sitting on a table, touching a wall, sleeping
on something does not trigger the shrinking effect.
Using items attached to other items, such as a door
or a sword deeply embedded in a wall will not
trigger shrinking effects. Special items may be im-
mune to Pixie magic, especially items that have spe-
cific interactions with Fey in general. These items
do not shrink and can thus not be used by a Pixie.
It is entirely up to the DM to call when items can
or can not be shrunk or used in specific ways when
shrunk. Pixie Magic is mainly the ability to be able
to use items just like other races without penalties.
Pixie’s ability of limited flight makes them, while
able to move their wings, unable to take falling
damage. They can however still be knocked prone.
Exposed wings’ save DC can be altered as the DM
sees fit, as all crits are not created equal (there is a
difference between being hit by a great sword and a
fist) but 13 should be the normal target.
While flying, Pixies emit a faint humming sound. If
they use invisibility, they can not be seen by
normal sight, but have to use stealth with advan-
tage to avoid being heard.
