Construction (Fig. 2.1) Constructional features and main elements of ~@® AHMA can be seen in the figs. 2/1, 3/1 and 3/2, All hydraulic elements are integrated in the high-pres- ‘sure section. The components are arranged round the main axis of the central high-pressure section. The electrical monitoring and control elements are easily accessible after removal of the casing. The control cables are brought out via terminals. ‘The auxiliary switch $512204 is connected mechanic- ally to the piston rod by means of a connecting piece. ‘The detection of the switch position is facilitated by a large-size mechanically operated position indicator. The casing $51028 of weather-proof plastic materials which is divided in two halves can be removed, if necessary, after loosening of a few screws. A compact ‘construction has been achieved due to the highly integ- rated design. The hydraulic spring drive has no hydraulic, pipe connections. e The low-pressure hydraulic circuit is sealed to the atmo- _ sphere by means of highly reliable static seals. Depending on their capacity and on the switching cycle stored, the hydraulic spring drives are equipped with a varying numbers of springs. AHMA4 OCO 6 _ disc springs CO-CO 8 disc springs AHMA8 OCO 12 disc springs 00-00 16 disc-springs 3. Function 3.1 Hydraulic elements of power supply (Fig. 3.1). ‘+ The pump motor $51002 drives the pump $51014. » Tho pump $51014 pumps the hydraulic oil from the low-pressure reservoir to the high-pressure part, thereby compressing the disc spring assembly $5108, © The operating rod of the pump limit switch $51046 ~ switches the pump motor on and off depending on the spring travel of the disc spring assembly — monitors the spring tension ~- controls the stored operating sequences ‘* The pressure relief valve consisting of bolt $51045, and non-return valve $51059 connects the high- pressure part with the low-pressure part if the oil pressure increases following a disturbance. * The pressure relief sorew 851017 serves for deli erate reduction of the oil pressure in the oil circuit. It connects the high-pressure part with the fow-pres- sure part. ‘© The oil drain valve S51013 1s, hydraulic ol ‘© The non-retum vaive $51059 is integrated in the pump and prevents the oil from flowing from the high-pressure part back to the low-pressure part. # The filler $51079 serves to keep the hydraulic oi clean. ‘* The elecitically operated pilot valves $51004/5 con- vert electrical commands into hydraulic ones. After actuation, the pilot valves ate returned to their initial position by the built-in spring, Ised for draining the ‘« Tho changeaver valve $51006 releases the flow of the hydraulic oil to the actuating cylinder for closing or opening «The auxiliary switch $1204 serves: = to control the switching operation = for position indication. # Tho low-pressure part serves as an oil reservoir. # The anti-condensation heater prevents the conden- sation of water in the hydraulic spring drive. «The low-temperature heater switches on at -25° and off at -20° C via a thermostat. It is designed to ensure uniformity of operation at temperatures below ~25°C. 3.2 Closing (Fig. 9.1) The top side of the working piston $51012 is always under systom pressure whon the spring is charged. In OPEN-position, the base of the working piston is con- nected with the low-pressure part (reservoir). This, ensures that the working piston is securely held in the OPEN position. On actuation of the ON-pilot valves, '$51004, the changoover valve S51006 switches over, isolating the piston base from the low-pressure part and simultaneousty releasing the way to the high-pressure part. The system pressure is now active on both sides of the piston. Since the area of the base of the piston is larger than that of the connecting rod sie, the piston moves to the CLOSE position. The tension of the disc spring assembly decreases proportionally to the release of oil pressure. The quantity of hydraulic oil released from the high pressure side is immediately replaced by the pump $51014, As long as the system pressure is maintained, tho piston rod 61012 remains in CLOSE-position. A pressure-dependent mechanical interlocking feature $51016 (stop bott) prevents the piston rod $51012 trom moving automatically in the OPEN-direction in the event of @ pressure drop follow- ing a disturbance. 3.3 Opening (Fig. 3.2) On actuation of the opening pilot valves $51005 the changeover valve $51006 returns 10 its initial position. The hydraulic oil flows from the piston side to the low- pressure part and the working piston $51012 moves to the OPEN-position, Independently acting throttling screws are used to adjust the switching speed for Closing and Opening. ‘These are adjusted in the factory, so there is no need to adjust them at site, 3.4 Safety devices (Fig. 3.1) In caso of malfunction of the pump limit switch $51046, ‘a mechanically operated pressure relief valve S51045 consisting of bolt $51045 and non-return valve S51059 prevents excessive loading of the disc spring assembly, §51008 and the build-up of an inadmissible system pressure. Contacts which are conttollod by the position of the piston of the storage cylinder $51007 inhibit switching soquences for which the available oll pressure is no longer sufficient. The position of the working piston 851012 (CLOSE-OPEN) as well as the degroe of com- pression of the disc spring assembly $51008 (spring travel) are visible from outside. 3.5 Notes on operation ttis quite normal for the pump $51014 to start up several times a day. The number of starts is governed by the fol- lowing factors: — Number of switching operations of the circuit breaker — Internal leaks in hydraulic system The number of pump siarts of individual breakers of the same consignment can vary considerably, For instance, 8 ten pump starts a day for one circuit breaker whereas the adjacent breaker requires only one start in two days. is no cause for concern. For leak test, see 7.5.2.4. 3.6 Manual operation of the circuit breaker Tho circuit breaker can be operated manually via the pilot valves, Fig. 3/7, when the casing is removed. This operating mode is only intended for use during main- tenance or repair work; in no case should it be used in normal servioe. Hovever, the operating mechanism should be operated manually only when the disc spring assembly is loaded and the SF6-gas space is under system pressure. Note: In this case the interlocking features are out of action 3.7 Slow switching operations Slow switching operations when pressure is not avail able in the gas space or in the event of a pressure reduction are not admissible for this drive. ‘The pressure — wich is sufficient for slow operations ~ is not suificient to bring the mechanical closing interlock back to its initial position, The wear caused by the friction of the mechanical closing interlocking and the piston rod may lead to leaks. 3.8 Spring charging by hand in case of ‘emergency General In the event of failure of the pump motor a hand pump can be used to charge the operating mechanism. Application ‘The hand pump is fastened as shown in Fig.7/5 or in some other place in such a way that the operating lever is readily operable. Remove sealing caps of: = oil drain valve $51013 ~ high pressure connection (threaded coupling) 851108 and — oil replenishment hole $51127 (screw plug neck) The intake end of the emergency manual pump (marked with 8) is connected with a low-pressure hose to oil drain vaive $51013 of the operating mechani The discharge end of the pump (marked with P) is connected to the high-pressure connection $51 108 with, a high pressure hose. 4 — Open oil drain valve $61013. However, it is recommended to perform func- tion tests occasionally. 71 Overview of maintenance work The table below shows a complete listing of the re- quited maintenance measures. The individual main- tenance operations are desoribed step-by-step under 7.4 and 7.5. The general recommendations of Par. 7.2 should be taken into consideration; they are part of the maintenance instructions. The disc springs are pro vided with an anticorrosive coating, which may not be ‘wiped off or treated with a solvent. 7.22 Lubrication All moving parts are either immersed in oil and do not require any lubrication, or they are permanently lubrica- tod. 7.2.3 Seals for hydraulic spring operating mechanism In the event of a disturbance simple repairs may be made on site. If the repair necessitates the removal of ‘seals, they must be replaced by new ones. HS tone ane Use only clean seals, Cleaning is done best with a lint-free rag soaked in clean hydraulic oll, Never use abrasives for cleaning (not even the finest) Before inserting, check whether the seals are stil lex: ible and that no cracks have formed. 7.3 Taking out of service = For performing maintenance work on the operating mechanism, the citouit breaker may remain con- nected to the mains. However, preventive measures must be taken in order that no switching operations can be triggered unintentionally during maintenance. ~ Prevent automatic start of pump motor $510002 (open MCB or disconnact the motor). — Slowly open pressure relief screw $51017 to remove pressure in the operating mechanism. 7.4 — General maintenance work — Original position ~ Broakor out of service : = ise springs discharged to the extent that there is no pressure in the operating mechanism 7.4.4 — Drain hydraulic oll (Fig. 7.3) = Drain oil into a clean receptacte with a minimum, capacity of 5 liters by opening oil drain valve $51013 and removing plug 851127 — Aiter draining, close oil drain valve $51013 again and plug 651127, 7.4.2 Pump motor = The pump motor is permanently lubricated and does not requite any maintenance in this respect. Tho collector and collector brushes should be re- placed when they are worn to a length of less than 11 mm. The collector should be cleaned, if neces- sary. For information conceming the running time of the pump motor, see also 7.5.2.1 7.48. Checks ~ Original position Breaker without voltage Hydraulic system under pressure ~ Leak check Minor leaks (humidity on seals) are not alarming, they do not cause any malfunctions, = Oil level check In normal service (spring charged, circuit breaker CLOSED of OPEN), the oil level is at the centre of the ol level indicator. If not, the reason for the loss of oil has to be Investigated, and hydraulic oil has to be replenished. 7.5 Commissioning 7.5.1 Filling hydraulic oil into the hydraulic spring ‘operating mechanism (Fig. 7.3) Oil grade used: Trade name: Aeto Shell Fluid 4 or Esso UNIVIS J 13 ‘ABB-designation GPHL730041R0001 Manufacturer: Shell AG and Esso AG, resp. Only the above-mentioned oil grades are allowed for filing the hydraulic spring operating mechanism, Observe the operating instructions for evacuation (eg. Leibold Heraeus § 4A). ‘The hydraulic spring operating mechanism should be filled with oil in service position, and must be in the OPEN poston. Procedure: 1 Connect vacuum pump to oil refill opening $51127 and oil receptacle via a filter to oil drain valve 851018. 2 Open pressure relief screw 851017 by tuming anticlockwise, valve $5101 remains closed, 8 Draw vacuum for approx. 30 sec. <= 0.25 KPa (25 mbar). 4 Keep vacuum pump running and draw in oil by opening drain valve $51013 (Fig. 7.3, column 1) 5 Close drain valve $51013, 6 Again draw a vacuum of 1.0 to 1.5 kPa (10 + 5 mbar) for approx. 5 min. while operating manually and altemately the pilot valves $51004/S51005 (CLOSE and OPEN), 7 Remove the vacuurn pump and close refill opening 851127. 8 Close presoure relist screw S51017. Apply pressure to hydraulic spring operating mechanism and switch on and off several times. 9 Check oil level inservice position with drive charged (Fig. 7/3, column 2) 10 Correct, it necessary, by refilling via $51127 or raining oil by means of valve $51013. 11 After assembly on site repeat evacuation proced- ure according to item 6, For this purpose, open pressure reliof screw S51013. Reason: Risk of air inclusions due to change of position uring transport. ‘The vacuum pump provided for the SF6-gas cham- bers can be used for this purpose. However, a separate flexible tube and an oil fiter have to be used between drive and vacuum pump. 12 When transporting the operating mechanism in its operating position, i.e. if air cannot penetrate into the system, the second evacuation can be dis- gensed with 13. After completion of the oil filing and evacuation process, the first 6 losing’ opening operations shall not be taken into account for the evaluation of the running performance (e.g. synchronism). 14 Should any operations be performed on the drive which may cause air to enter the hydraulic system, even in minute quantities, itis necessary to evacu- ate the hydraulic spring drive, Attention! It is absolutely necessary to close throtting screws '$51084 and $51035 to operate the drive with the circuit, breaker detached. Their position must be marked before closing so that the original position can be re- adjusted on subsequent opening Fig. 2/1. In normal service, the minimum oil level should not fall below the level specitied in Fig. 11/3, column 3. 7.8.2 Function tests 7.6.2.1 General ‘The function tests shall be performed after completion of commissioning and immediately before putting into service, and efter maintenance work has been per- formed. Function tests shall only be performed with the circuit breaker isolated from the high-voltage system, the SF6-gas space under operating pressure and the spring disc assembly loaded. ‘The motor of the hydraulic spring operating mechanism is designed for short-time duty and is not suitable for uninterrupted operation. Therefore, only up to 10 open- ing and closing operations are allowed per hour in order to avoid overheating. 7.6.2.2 Report All tested, measured and sat values must be recorded in a commissioning report. This report shall be filed for later reference, 7.6.2.3 Adjustments All adjustments have already been made and fixed in the manufacturer's works so thet they do not have to be performed during commissioning, Nevertheless, a func tional check shall be cartied out on the circuit breaker and its associated protection devices (see instructions, for the circuit breaker), vis tone 7.8.2.4 Leak test on hydraulic system rformed in the switch positions CLOSED and OPEN. For this purpose, transfer the circuit breaker to the desired position and load the disc spring assembly Prevent automatic restarting of the pump by disoonnec- ting the corresponding motor cable or by tripping the miniature circuit breaker (MBO) in the motor circuit @ leak test over a period of eight hours at least must Logging = Time — Spring travel indication (e.g. mark adhesive tape at spring travel indicator with coloured pen Slackening of the spring tension by 18 mm per 24h is acceptable. Measurement according to Fig. 7/7 Up to 10 pump starts a day are acceptable even if the breaker is not operated. Ir the case of more than 10 pump starts a day, the breaker should be observed. It is possible to install an impulse counter for the motor and/or an impulse coun- ter for the circuit breaker in the control cubicle on request. If the number of pump starts increases, this may point to an incipiont internal leak, 7.8.2.8 Anti-condensation hoators (Fig. 7/2) Perform function test on the heaters. For replacement, remove base plate $51063 and exchange heating re- sistor 851150, Spare parts 841 General The hydraulic spring drives are largely free from wear. ‘The manufacturer does not recommend any spare parts, for overhauling. But, at the user's request and for pos- siole cases of emergency, spare parts can be supplied On the basis of a separate spare parts list ‘Tho parts listed below are recommended in such a case, ‘The order should contain the following information: — Order number see ordering documentation — Code numiser of type see identification plate — Serial number see identification plate — Publication number see cover page — Part number see spare parts list — Part designation see spare parts list = Design for indoor or outdoor 8.2 Storage instructions — Handle parts welded in plastic bags carefully (the plastic bags should not be tom) and unpack them only immediately prior to mounting. — Store rubber parts (seals) in a dry cool place and protect them against light and sun. Toroidal sealing Tings have a limited storage lite (up to 6 years) Check date of delivery, 9. Appendix 14.1 Operating supplies and auxiliary materials Ser lite and checks of hydraulic oil: ‘The oil used in the hydraulic spring drives for circult breakers (Aero Shell Fluid 4 and/or Esso Univis J 13) is subject to natural ageing, Its recommended to perform ‘an oil check at intervals of 10 years. The oil condition can be assessed by a visual check. The normally clear cil gets cloudy when the water content becomes excess- ively high. In this case, the hydraulic oil must be replaced, Both oil grades can be mixed, ‘Other operating supplios and auxiliary materials are listed in the operating instructions of the circuit breaker, 11.2 Tables Fig. 11.1 Tightening torques for screw-in bolts Fig. 14.2 Tightening torques for hexagon-head screws and hexagon socket-head cap screws of light Fig. 11.8 Oil level indicator 11.3 Figures Fig. 2/1 Hydraulic spring drive Fig. 3/1 Functional diagram in position OFF Fig. 3/2 Functional diagram in position ON Fig. 3/3 Throttling screw Fig. 3/4 Pressure relief screw Fig, 3/5 Mechanica! interlocking feature Fig, 3/6 Pump with motor Fig. 9/7 Pilot valve Fig. 3/8 Bottom side of working piston Fig. 4/1 Transportation of drive Fig. 4/2 Attachment of drive to circuit breaker Fig. 6/1 Replacement and adjustment of auxiliary switch Fig. 7/2 Operating mechanism open Fig. 7/3 Refiling of hydraulic oil Fig. 7/4 Adjustment of pump limit switch Fig. 7/5 Charging by hand in case of emergency Fig, 7/7 Measurement of spring tension OMS 096098 15 11.3 Tables Fig, 11/1 Tightening torques for screw boats (hyéraulc) — double-ended unions DIN 3901 and ~ screwed plugs DIN 3852 part 2, types A, B, ©, D ~ steel, nodular iron or aluminium n=ot Stool, nodular iron ‘Aluminiom d Nm rs Nm rs Remarks -10 -10 G18" 18, 10 | our 55 30 eae % 40 | G 1 - 125, 70 ~ ~ asa" 200 100 ar 350 220 oie 500 350 G11 640 450 - ae 1350 900 ~~ Always tighten hexagon socket screw pigs using the torque for aluminium. For intetnal transport purposes see table, Fig. 1/2, 1.4 Diagrams The diagrams contained intheinstructions are schematic diagrams and serve to explain the functions, 1.5 Breaker construction Tho dimensioning of the porcelains is governed by the voltage rating, the altitude at which the circuit breaker is installed and the specified tracking distance of the porce- fain insulators, Depending on the order the cicuit breaker can be with or without a closing resistor chamber. 2 Construction 2.4 Circuit breaker (Fig. 2/1) ‘The circuit breaker of series ELF SP 4-2 07-2 consists of three breaker poles, a common contol cubicle 6 and the electrical connecting cables (Fig. 4/Sa). Every breaker pole comprises essentially the following components (consignment units): + 1 double arcing chamber unit 151 (index B1) ~ 1 earth insulation 104/105/106/107 (index B2) 4 double arcing chamber unit with closing resistor chambers, 152 (index 83)? ‘ hydraulic stored-energy spring operating mecha. nism type AHMA, 7 1 breaker support 4 or 5 (of welded or bolted design) * 4 density monitor type ELK WT 16 (index D} = 2 contro! capacitors 12,7 2.2 Control cubicle (Fig. 2/2) ‘The principle of operation and the type and number of control elements can be seen generally in the binding circuit diagram that is part of the order documentation, Located at the right in the control cubicle are the terminal blocks, as well as the electrical cable connections. The ‘cables enter from belowvvia connection plates with glands {conduit thread), Onthe lett side the electrical control and instrumentation equipment are arranged on a mounting plate. ‘These are essentially = Selector switch REMOTE/LOCAL + Contiol switches, = Motor protection switches = Miniature circuit breakers - Auxiliary contactors, = Pulse counters ~ Service hours meter. They carry the same designation as in the control dia- gram. Also installed on the mounting plate are an anti ‘condensate heater, and for installation conditions below -85°C (& -31°F) a thermostat that controls the heaters in the operating mechanism and on the linear movement seals of the polos. A second anti-condensale heater is installed on the right side wall 3 Hfinstalled * Gan be supplied by customer
