Research Title: Identifying Factors of Reading Difficulties among young Learners

Reading is one of the important skills in English and it gives many benefits for us. Reading is the
window of the world.. (Grey in Tarigan, (1957:1099).

What causes poor reading skills? This question is always in my mind, as a teacher / educator I want to
know the reasons behind it. Most of our students are struggling especially during reading time. Every child has
his own ability and learns at his or her own pace. When a child is having difficulty in a specific subject, such as
reading, how can we address it? There are several common reading issues in young children that can hinder their
progress in comprehension and may even cause them to do poorly in their academic performance. That is why I
came up with this title of my research. I want to investigate and study why most young learners especially those
kids ranges from 5 yrs old to 9 yrs old experiences difficulty in learning how to read. Most of them does not
want to attend classes when reading lessons started. Due to this situation, some of them drop out from school and
do not continue until the next school year begins.

The objective of this research is to make an action plan or a possible suggestion for a solution to solve
the reading difficulties of young learners .Make different teaching methods, strategies and techniques in teaching
the children the reading in the way that they find it fun and enjoyable. This will be beneficial first and foremost
to the parents and to teachers because they will be able to handle students with reading difficulties and to the
young learners for they will learn how to address their difficulties in reading, and will help them develop their
reading comprehension and reading capabilities.. As the pupils improve their reading comprehension they will
also easily learn lessons and will definitely improve their academic performance.
