Math:

1 thing that went well- I thought the students really enjoyed the making 10 activity where they
had to glue two numbers that added up to 10.
1 thing that I would change- Check-in with the new student more to make sure he knew what
his jobs are during guided math. My TM supported him more today to get him set-up with the
math with technology station.

Math:

1 thing that went well- I thought the introduction and conclusion of the lesson with the
apple/owl/raccoon groups went well. Having an introduction and conclusion brings what we
are learning together. The introduction involved each student completing a counting on
problem and the conclusion involved students sharing one way to make 10.
1 thing that I would change- Most of the students that are in the bird math group have been
absent since we started adding to make 10 so we had to review with the ten frames and the
part-part-whole mats and never did get to the worksheet. In grade 1 students are expected to
be able to make 10 so adding to make 10 was just to challenge and differentiate. We had to
move on to doubles because that is also a curriculum requirement. I was disappointed that we
never got to the worksheet, but I need to make sure that we cover all of the curricular
requirements that are for grade 1.

Social:

1 thing that went well- I thought the lesson about how a chief is chosen went well. I researched
how a chief is selected and found out that chiefs in First Nations communities are elected by
voting or chiefs can be hereditary. We also talked about responsibilities of chiefs.
1 thing that I would change- Inviting a chief into the classroom and students could ask them
how a chief is selected.

Math:

1 thing that went well- Explaining a new game that students can play during the math with a
friend or math by myself station as a whole group at the beginning of class worked well.
1 thing that I would change- Watch the timing when explaining new games for the stations as a
whole group or at the beginning of each guided math group to make sure you can still get
through what you planned for that day. This is because there are a certain number of curricular
hours that you have to meet for each subject. It is ok to go over time sometimes, but it is
something to be mindful of.
