REFLECTION PAPER
(COMBAT LEADERSHIP)

Leadership it is the skill or ability of an individual within the group to lead or to

influence, guide the individuals, teams, groups or in the organization. Leadership is a
hard task and for me to become a good leader I must be a good follower, because I
believe that to be a great leader, learn how to be a great follower.

Effective plans and orders must be involved in the operation with our
subordinates. Effective plans and orders encourage subordinate’s initiative by
providing the “what” and “why” of tasks to subordinate units, and leave the “how” to
perform the tasks to subordinates. To maintain clarity and simplicity, the base plan or
order is kept as short and concise as possible. Detailed information and instructions
are addressed in annexes as required. This plans and orders in the most critical
decision making in terms of this situation that the leader or the commander must
possess the stability under pressure to think clearly and positively.

I will be an example to my fellowmen or comrades and subordinates. I will

always check and monitor the welfare of my men, if there something happen to my
men that is my accountability and I am responsible for any actions of my men.
Because that is what leaders do. The program of Reserve Officer Training Corps
(ROTC) is to mold how to become a leader someday. I will train my Lower class how
to become a good leader like me, teach, guide, and lead for them to be able to apply
those in the field where they want to become in future. I will maintain a good
relationship between me as a Leader for my subordinates and create a goals, vision,
mission for us to become a successful unit or organization and achieve all those
objectives and accomplishments that we want.

As a leader I taught and guided the Basic Cadet and inspire, encourage,
motivate them, that in the future they will also become leader or a manager someday
and they will lead also like a taught to them that a good leader must be a good
follower.

The Commanders direct operations and communicate their mission,

commander’s intent, and decisions through plans and orders. Effective plans and
orders clearly describe how the commander intends to combine offensive, defensive,
and stability or civil support operations throughout the conduct of operations. They
synchronize subordinate activities in time, space, and purpose to achieve objectives
and accomplish missions. Plans and orders not only direct subordinate units but
provide information to facilitate coordination among organizations outside the
command. The Commander or the leader who conducting combat plans and order
has the accountability for his men for all the consequence and decision he made. As
a ROTC Officer I must teach my lower class to make them a better decision maker.
To lessen the consequence the commander must think and observe his decisions for
his men to achieve the mission and to complete the objectives and presence of mind
is always important to all members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
