Subj : Personal Leadership Philosophy

1. INTRODUCTION
Leadership is the process of influencing people by providing them with
purpose, direction, and motivation while you are operating to accomplish a
mission and improve the organization. An military leader is anyone who, by virtue
of assumed role or assigned responsibility, inspires and influences people to
accomplish organizational goals. Military leaders motivate people both inside and
outside the chain of command to pursue actions, focus thinking, and shape
decisions for the greater good of the organization. Being a leader is a lot more
complex than just giving orders. Your influence on others can take many forms.
Your words and your deeds, the values you talk about, the example you set,
every action you take on or off duty are all part of your influence on others.

First is leadership philosophy, which is the basis and foundation for the
other two philosophies. Many of us are familiar with the term, but we assert that
this philosophy is redefined as an internal, unpublished guide for the leader on
how to lead and what his or her beliefs and priorities are when leading. This
philosophy can be elaborate or simple, but it is founded on the individual’s
values, beliefs and past experiences. It defines and describes the ethos of the
leader, regardless of the position or unit assigned, and from here is born the two
subsequent philosophies. Developing a sound leadership philosophy requires
reflection and humility. Reflection is an integral part of understanding what the
leader believes, why he or she believes it and how he or she plans to implement
the beliefs. Humility is rarely mentioned in leadership doctrine, but without
humility there is no reflection. The recognition and development of humility is
often overlooked by senior leaders, especially considering how it enhances a
person’s value as a leader. Humility is required for self-awareness and self-
honesty as the leader reflects on weaknesses and strengths. Reflection and self-
awareness are necessary to determine the logic and reasoning behind the
leader’s beliefs and individual behaviors. All leaders should consider reflecting on
and rewriting this living philosophy during transitions in their careers. The
reflection and mental work required to write a philosophy will improve self-
awareness. The act of writing also makes a better leader by forcing refinement of
his or her thoughts to help make ideas stick in the leader’s sub-consciousness.
The thought that must go into writing helps organize and articulate thinking,
priorities and goals. It helps the leader understand what is important and how to
best communicate it to others. Once leaders complete writing their personal
philosophy, they will have a better idea of who they are, and why they believe
and think the way they do. They can then decide what part of their philosophy
they want to share with others.

The second approach is a leader philosophy that operationalizes the

individual’s leadership philosophy to his or her current supervisory role. It tells the
organization’s members what they need to know about their leader and what they
can anticipate from him or her. It uses the leadership philosophy as a basis and
foundation, but it is tailored to a particular audience (unit or organization) based
on the leader’s position, environment, organizational culture and followers.

The last approach is a command philosophy, which operationalizes the

leadership philosophy and applies it to the commander’s unit. We are more
familiar with command philosophies since most commanders post them for
Soldiers to read. However, the command philosophy is just a particular
application of a leader’s philosophical approach to leading for a specific position
and place in time. It contains what the commander wants his or her command to
do or not do, how to perform and how to act. It contains the commander’s vision
for the unit and how to achieve it. It provides a forum for the commander to help
motivate the unit, and it sets a climate for his or her particular style of command
leadership to flourish.

My personal philosophy can be boiled down to five key areas:

Empowering others, being courageous, coaching for success, maintaining
accountability and always keeping the larger purpose in mind. Empowering
others is a cornerstone of my leadership philosophy. I believe that true leaders
are those who empower those around them to be the best that they can be. This
means creating an environment where people feel comfortable taking risks and
challenging themselves; where they feel supported and valued; and where they
know that their contributions matter. It also means giving people the tools and
resources they need to succeed, and providing ongoing feedback and guidance.
Being courageous is also critical to being an effective leader. Leaders need to be
willing to take risks and stand up for what they believe in, even when it is
unpopular or difficult. This doesn't mean being impulsive or reckless, but it does
mean having the courage to stand up for what you believe in, even when it is
difficult. Coaching and developing your team is another key element of my
philosophy. I believe that leaders should coach those around them to help them
reach their full potential. This means providing ongoing feedback and support,
helping people identify their strengths and weaknesses, and setting clear goals
and expectations. It also means being available to answer questions and offer
advice when needed. Maintaining accountability is another important part of my
philosophy. Leaders need to be held accountable for their actions and decisions,
and they need to be able to hold others accountable as well. This means setting
clear expectations and following through on them, providing feedback and
coaching when needed, and taking responsibility for your own mistakes. Finally,
my leadership philosophy is based on the belief that leaders should always keep
the larger purpose in mind and help those on their team understand how the
work they are doing is meaningful and, ultimately, how it helps to make the world
a better place. These are the five key leadership actions upon which I founded
the Leadership Reformation, as leaders rise in rank, change positions of
responsibility and grow in knowledge and understanding of people and
leadership, it is natural for their ideas and philosophy of leadership to evolve.
Leaders should not be static. Instead, they need to constantly learn and grow
from their experiences. Therefore, they should revisit their leadership philosophy
throughout their careers by reflecting on experiences and knowledge gained, and
then capture those lessons-learned by improving and updating their leadership
philosophy. There may not be any major revisions, but certainly there will be
some added emphasis or insight due to life experiences and gained leadership
experience. In addition, each time leaders change jobs or bosses, they should
revise their leader or command philosophy based on the new requirements and
environment.

2. PAST EXPERIENCES,
Many people are placed in leadership positions who are not ready to lead.
Leaders are genuinely caring people. They give their people the importance they
deserve by building relationships and giving others opportunities by guiding them
and helping them grow. We don’t need a title to lead. We just need to care.
People would rather follow a leader with a heart than a leader with a title. In my
previous position, my enthusiasm for the profession and my desire to accomplish
it with courage, diligence, accuracy, and a sense of responsibility were primary
factors in my choice to pursue this career. I'd always wanted to work on tasks
that were considered basic but important to how the system is working. Working
in healthcare for the past five years has convinced me that I should pursue a
career in radiography, which demands skills that I already have. I always had a
keen eye for attention to detail, which meant noticing things that could be
meaningful but weren’t apparent. Radiologic technologists play an important role
in the medical field in this regard; we are the "centered eyes of medicine." In the
last five years, I have met several radiographers, and all of them had the ability to
focus on "attention to detail," despite having technical knowledge of therapeutic
or diagnostic areas. Medical and anatomical skills, examination skills, computer
and technology skills, safety, medical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and
theories are just a few of the skills that should be mastered. Problem-solving and
communication skills, as well as teamwork abilities, are essential for a career in
radiography. To be honest, I am not the kind of person who is first to take the
lead, but I always support leaders who believe in growth for everyone. I can take
the team along and lead where needed. The suitability of my skills for a career in
radiography is the cornerstone of my decision to pursue a professional degree in
healthcare. Radiologic technologists perform diagnostic imaging examinations on
patients as part of their work deliverables. One obvious reason for the growth of
job opportunities is the aging population, which requires a demand for diagnostic
and imaging tools. We can use and perform a variety of modern modalities,
including diagnostic radiology, MRI, CT scanning, and ultrasound. Additionally,
the present median annual wage for radiologic technologists is twice as high as
my current salary package, which makes things rewarding in financial terms. The
field of radiologic technologists requires experience and certification for
rewarding work opportunities, and their work is in healthcare facilities with full-
time work opportunities. Apart from being compassionate, patient care skills are
the most important role in handling a patient; problem-solving skills are also
important because they require precise decision-making within limited time
regarding the creation of treatment plans and the diagnosis of patients. The
ability to deliver knowledge related to treatment and diagnosis to patients
requires efficient communication skills, along with technical know-how. Medical
and technical knowledge can help me improve my service delivery,
communication, and interpersonal skills, active listening skills, analytical skills,
multitasking, critical thinking, empathy, flexibility, teamwork, good organizational
skills, stress management, and time management, especially when identifying
and responding to emergency situations and maintaining patients'
confidentiality. The key skills and expertise required of radiologic technologists
are appealing to me as they align with my personality traits and behaviors. I want
to work in an environment where service delivery is focused on humanitarian
service and working more is incentivized not only in a monetary sense but also in
the form of compassion for each other. I always thought of living a meaningful
life, and deep down, I still do. I realized that it was important to remain a
functional and productive member of society. Although my previous idea of
making a difference in people's lives around the world through solely financial
means has been categorically rejected over the last five years, I met several
people in a healthcare setting who live lives of contentment because they feel
connected to a higher purpose in their lives. Serving humanity is at the core of
peaceful coexistence in society and generally at the global level. I wish to have a
secure and long-term career with my previous profession, but we need to let go
and find a new path in our careers.

3. CGOC EXPERIENCES.
Most fundamental changes in human behavior are difficult. In the case of
the military, there is a certain amount of civilian training and culture to unlearn
and adapt to a new military environment where expectations of behavior are
vastly different. The military takes people from all backgrounds and experiences
and transitions them into a standard pattern of behavior that best functions at the
level of a small team or unit in what can potentially be a highly stressful
environment. If the trainees react and function properly in order to survive
themselves while still completing the task assignments that are given, one of the
big lessons one will or should learn in boot camp is that the physical exertion is
not the point or the central aim. Yes, you’re there to learn that you can do
physically more than you ever thought you could, but again, that’s the challenge.
It’s only pain, and after a while, you don’t notice it so much. Your premise is
flawed. Basic training is not actually hard, as a Candidate Coast Guard officer
has already completed it the boot camp status. It exists to get you familiar with
the concepts of teamwork, camaraderie and unity introduce you to certain ways
of behaving, and prepare you to learn whatever your real job in the military will
be. But the hardest part of military training is the idea that a disciplined,
dedicated, and motivated servant is still required to focus on thinking on the
subject at hand. As a Candidate Coast Guard officer has a cognitive value to the
team that must be leveraged for the team to perform well. You not only have to
perform the role of an officer; you also have to think and act like that for them to
perform at its optimum level. Just like an example, all trainees who participate in
team sports generally learn that environment faster than those who do not. They
are typically familiar with the concepts of self-sacrifice, primarily of time and
effort; dedication to a team goal; rigorous physical training; and repetitive practice
of given drills. The key to boot camp is to realize that it’s really just a mind game.
They need to see if you are mentally capable of being taken away from
everything you’ve ever known and being able to withstand the mental onslaught
of surviving and hopefully thriving in a completely different environment. Nor is it
the hundreds of little things you learn along the way, like how to march, or how to
make your rack, or fold your clothes, or hold your rifle just and especially must
know how to remove the pride and ego. After a while on active duty, you begin to
feel the pain in the whole body as boot camp was, that was actually the easy
part, for everything was structured and organized down to the last detail. After
our recognition rites from boot camp, the real test begins to determine whether
we have the character, competence, resilience, and discipline to not just follow
and endure, but to lead the team. We have taken on every responsibility and
opportunity, and we are doing our best and putting extra effort into our training.
Honor and integrity are the most expected cornerstones of the team. Having
integrity helps foster an open and positive work environment and an ethical
approach to decision-making.

Every day is a brand new day and a fresh start. Whatever journey you are
taking right now, just go with the flow and do your best. We may encounter
difficulties and struggles, but we must take a stand. Your passion and love for
what you do will bring you success. Every day is a brand new day; live your life
and be better to reach the best. Let your passion and love bring you closer to
your dreams. Life is a series of unexpected adventures where we don’t know
where it is going to take us at the next turn of the road. However, we should
always remember that the time that breaks us makes us as well. You just can't
get what you want without any struggle at all. We went through trials to define our
success. The hard times and the ups and downs we’ve been through make us
who we are and what we will become in the future. It is not necessarily where
you are at the end, but what you accomplish while trying along the way. As long
as you try, you can never fail; just learn from your mistakes and continue on your
next journey a little wiser. We have no excuse for being busy all the time; we can
look or feel busy without actually accomplishing much. Being busy is about
working harder, while being productive is about working smarter. Being busy is
about being good at everything, while being productive is about being great at a
few important things. Make sure to keep your attention on the improvement
rather than the discomfort. It's possible that you've stumbled a lot when
attempting to stand up on your own and move around. You probably wouldn't
have been able to stand upright today if you had concentrated only on how many
times you had failed and the injuries you had sustained. Keep going forward and
taking lessons from this. When you believe in yourself, you realize your own
inner challenges and outer obstacles are nothing to be ashamed of; they are
instead an opportunity for triumph and liberation. If you don't know where you are
going, any road will get you there. He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep
to gain what he cannot lose. Our deeds determine us as much as we determine
our deeds. It's not what you look at that matters; it's what you see. Discipline is
the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Most people don't realize their
real potential until they are thrown into a tough situation. Sometimes, the
difficulties of life provide a great opportunity to get familiar with our hidden
potential and strengths. Comfort and courage are two distinctly different ideas.
Comfort provides an easy road to fun but ultimately leads to failure. While
courage demands that we pull out all that is in us to beat the odds, dream the
impossible, and be unstoppable, concentration and mental toughness are the
margins of victory. Whatever happens, just push yourself to do your best so you
can be a great success. It can make you feel proud and give you excitement
when you consider the fact that you have made an impact in a competitive world.
But to attain success, you have to put in much more effort and adopt the kind of
mindset that will gear you towards achieving your goals and growing as a person.
You just need to stop looking for someone to blame for your failures and become
successful. Set your goals high and keep working toward them. Don’t limit
yourself; push yourself to aim high and commit to achieving it. Think of a goal
and how wonderful it would be to achieve it. Failure should not determine our
hopes or expectations for the future. We must remain focused on hoping for a
better tomorrow and accept disappointment as a temporary setback. The
challenges that life throws our way have a way of strengthening our minds,
hearts, and most importantly, our resolve. These tests from the Almighty God are
just rewards in disguise, a way for us to contemplate our faith, our beliefs, and
our path more intensely. All those who have found their life's mission agree that it
is to serve humanity, which unites us all. Thus, we are integrated into the great
symphony of life. Teamwork ultimately comes down to a variety of ideas and the
setting of principles. Success is not achieved by explaining complex, deep
theories but by applying extraordinary quantities of dedication and perseverance
to everyday situations. Too often, a leader expects more from his or her team
than they can provide. A leader should always be an example worth following for
the people around him. When you are committed to maintaining high standards,
you are giving the people who work with you a great example to follow as well as
a list of standards that they should strive to achieve. Leadership is neither a
privilege nor a power; it is a vision and a responsibility. Leaders are accountable
for the success of their people. The decisions you make, the actions you take,
and how you carry yourself have an impact on a large and diverse community or
organization. You should be humble in your demeanor and focused on serving
your country.
4. Envisioning the Future.
Leadership is about building relationships with others. Without the
continuous commitment, enforcement, and modeling of leadership, standards of
ethics, and characteristics that we might possess inside the organization, we will
not achieve our goals and vision. Leaders help to set the tone, develop the
vision, and shape the behavior of all those involved in organizational life.
Leadership is defined as the ability to influence others, but it can also be defined
as simply carrying out one's responsibilities. Remember, leaders are the
foundation of leading people. Leaders have no interest in themselves or their
positions, but an abiding interest in attaining the goal and improving the
organization. They have not said that superior intelligence, excellence, or talent
make great leaders outstanding. But a leader's character inspires others to be
better than they already are. They encourage their people to achieve their goals
and excel beyond their capabilities. It is the standards that the true leader
establishes for themselves, the guiding principles that are reflected in what they
do, how they treat and respect people, how they respect themselves, the value of
time and ideas and individual worth, and the investment that determines the
quality of an organization. In order to become a leader, you do not need to attain
a good position or a title. You don't even have to be famous. People follow
leaders who are capable of guiding them down the right path. Therefore, you
should also be one of those kinds. Sacrificing our own gains for others is what
leads to greater fulfillment and profound happiness, yet many of us are denied
that privilege by the impulse to cling on to what is ours, often through fear, rather
than letting it go. In other words, we haven’t discovered the great sense of
fulfillment that self-sacrifice can bring. Leadership is not about size, age, gender,
or power; it is all about wisdom, knowledge, experience, maturity, and qualities. A
true leader is someone who inspires and motivates his people. Someone who
taught his subordinates to set goals and instilled the confidence and spirit to
achieve them is not a psychic, but they can see potential where others see
roadblocks. More importantly, they surround themselves with competent people
who can make the impossible possible. As leaders, we must know how to inspire
our people to do their best and have passion for the things they must achieve.
Impact involves creating outcomes, generating influence, and sharing your
passion for your profession. You also need to inspire your people and the
organization to which you belong. The best leaders are the ones who inspire
those they lead. Their followers look up to them as someone worth following.
Leaders should be intentional about letting their people know that they genuinely
care about their well-being and their professional growth, and leaders are more
often able to create the great momentum needed to get things accomplished with
their people. The test of a leader lies in the reaction and response of his people.
He must make his influence felt by leading by example and instilling confidence
in his subordinates. Most people think of leadership based on what they see, in
terms of what is visible. In reality, leadership is more like an iceberg. Most of it is
unseen. Wise leaders are needed to correct, teach, and direct people. A leader
should assess growth and give direction as needed. Good leaders become a
source of light and hope for those they lead. Leadership boosts a person's self-
confidence, improves their ability to communicate, and shapes their personality.
Leadership abilities are helpful in all aspects of a career, including their
weaknesses and strengths and professional growth processes. One of the basic
qualities that employers value is leadership. Be a compassionate leader who
embraces change and communicates effectively. Include a shared vision, and
cultivate your supporters. Define your expectations and how to deal with failure in
a clear and practical manner. As leaders, we must know how to inspire our
people to do their best and have passion for the things they must achieve. If you
are going to remain in control of your life, think before you act. The ability to form
intent has been given to man. If you think, then act, and still make a mess, come
prepared with an explanation and an apology. As a future leader, the purpose of
great leadership roles is to make them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and
privileges as Filipino citizens. It will also prepare them for a sound foundation for
their future professional development and effective performance, both of which
are essential to success in any career. Leadership is shifting from telling
everyone what to do to empowering others to come up with the best and
brightest ideas that have never been thought of before. This is how leaders
empower people to be their best. Leadership is not difficult, but it is difficult to
execute. It is by doing the right things in the right ways for the right reasons and
understanding that the most important aspects of leadership involve the follower.
They are the ones who determine success or failure and lay the groundwork for
organizational and leadership success. To be a good leader, one should
proactively accept responsibility by doing things better than expected and by
doing more than expected.

5. Conclusion.
It is about how we perceive the things we encounter in our lives. Some
things are beyond your control, but circumstances change and new opportunities
arise. You could reflect on missed opportunities in the past or create new ones
for the future. We all go through processes that shape who we are and how our
lives turn out. The main goal of achieving a goal is not simply to do so. The main
goals are personal development and positive life change. You will undoubtedly
be successful if your goal advances your development. Self-development is the
foundation of emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual health. Life is
beautiful, but not always easy. It has problems too, and the challenge lies in
facing them with courage, making the pain an inspiration during trying times by
providing hope. Always appreciate and pursue the journey. It will always
strengthen us. new leaders lead with compassion and act more like mentors than
bosses. Importantly, new leaders are more effective connectors and mentors
than bosses. They focus on finding ways to connect their teams to organizational
purpose, accomplishments, and one another. Leaders are there to provide clarity
of purpose and serve as sources of motivation and inspiration. Good leaders are
trailblazers, making a path for others to follow. They inspire their people to reach
higher, dream bigger, and achieve greater. Perhaps the most important
leadership skill you can develop is the ability to provide inspiration to your team.
You need to be a leader who can motivate, encourage, and assist your members
in committing to the goals of the organization and the community. A leader who
sets ideas and goals, creates new things for the welfare of others, inspires
people to be a part of that vision, and goes above and beyond expectations, you
must be a passionate explorer to lead the way. To be successful with a group,
we the members should be well-disciplined and hard-working, and we should
also be people who look forward to being successful and dream of reaching our
mission and goal. A person without vision and inspiration can never be too good
for a group’s success. A group should always have members who are ready to
dedicate their time and hard work without a single thought. Everyone must take
the initiative to strive for the best results. Coming together is a beginning;
keeping together is progress; working together is success. Successful people let
their actions speak instead of their words. All successful people have effective
actions behind them. Words inspire people to take actions, but ultimately, it’s the
actions that lead to the destination. Cultivating a new generation of great leaders
that are inspired and motivated to make a difference in the lives of the people
they are entrusted to serve fosters camaraderie, which is a spirit of friendly
goodwill and mutual trust among people who spend a lot of time together.
Confidence is having a degree of certainty about your abilities. It's important for
them to know where their confidence comes from in those types of situations or
what they can say to themselves to gain confidence as they go into these
situations so that they can be successful. The best leaders don't do it alone; they
use coaching and development to get the tools and support they need. They
communicate clearly. They are efficient at assigning tasks to each member of the
group and utilizing their skills and resources. Good leaders know how to set good
goals and how to manage them so that their group stays on track. Leaders must
set an example with a consistent commitment to uncompromised honesty. Good
leadership is about acquiring and honing skills. Great leaders adapt to their
surrounding environments and empower the team to succeed together. The
ability to communicate effectively is an essential skill in today’s world.
Communication is a dynamic process, and how you communicate can positively
and negatively affect the relationships you have in your work and life. People with
the innate skills and passions to make good leaders start out with a desire to
make a difference. The skills that people achieve, the standards they hold dear,
and the attitudes and behaviors of a people can make a significant difference in
relation to the cumulative outcome of a nation. Being innovative and having a
strong personality set you apart from the crowd, and it is an attribute of a great
leader. Challenges and hard times offer you much more value than any other
time, earning additional lessons to strengthen you to face every adversity in life.
May our purpose in life always be focused on spiritual growth and service to
humanity.
