1. BS5400 has been superseded for quite a while now. Why wasn't Eurocodes used as the basis for
design?
What is the percentage of cost for detail designs (in contract sum ), ( all packages)
Could you also explain how the top post tensioning tendons, which achieved girder continuity, were
anchored? Were there additional anchorage blocks at the web-flange intersection? Also with the link
slab arrangement the girders of each span would have been designed as essentially simply supported?
Why was this chosen over the multi-span continuous arrangement? Thank you.
Very Good Overall Overview of the Entire Project from the beginning to end. Very much appreciated the
presenter and the CESC coordination.
please explain some technical aspects when we construct curve sections with girders
SIR ,
Dear Sir / Mam . Civil Engineering Sectional Committee, IESL has created a You Tube Channel to share
important activities . Pl login and suscribe to see to expand your knowledge in different areas . Tks!

ANY SPECIAL CONSIDERATION GIVEN DURING DESIGN STAGE CONSIDERING PROBABLE AREA OF
OCCURING EARTH QUAKE, LAND SLID ETC
Thank you for the great and interesting presentation, Eng. Yasela. 👍
🙏👏👏
👋👋👋
Why can't we go for higher spans in via ducts such as 40m or 50m with box girder sections. Is it cost
effective to go for box girder sections?
have u check cost benefit for permanent formwork and traditional formwork on bridge decking?
👏👏👏
Excellent Presentation...
1. This expressway was totally done by the Sri Lankan contractors; what are the pros and cons of doing
the project by them rather than foreign contractors (China)?
2. What is the per km cost for the entire kurunegala - mirigama expressway?
Is it different (less) than chinese project cost?
Great work and excellent presentation sir. Proud to be a part of CEP2 contractors 🙏
Thank you very much for the comprehensive answers. A very insightful presentation. Congratulations on
completing a great project.
Great Presentation and Thank you Mr Yasela. happy to see that the design for future maintenance have
been considered in this project.
👏👏👏
Also is there any provision for future widening? And what was the treatment done for the sea-sand prior
to use?
thank you
GREAT SUGGEST TO EXPLAIN THORUGH TV FOR INFO OF GENERAL PUBLIC. WELL DONE
Very Informative . Thank you very much sir, During the projects, The knowledge shared among the
expert engineers ( Structural , Hydrology, Geotechnical and Highway ) helped to lay the foundation to
Junior Engineers. Respectively Reminds all Engineers.
By doing this local contractors, most of money remain in Sri Lanka, it as a big advantage
Thank You.
Thank you

Thank you
Thank you.
Thanks Yasela.
thankyou sir
Thank you Very Much Mr. Yasela. Great explaination ànd presentation
yes
where we can get the lecture slides after ended the zoom lectures?
At completion of the lecture, could you elaborate on the use of water-stops at joints of box
culverts/underpasses
Is there a record of abnormal/special vehicle/plant/equipment loads (axle loads and arrangements) that
have traversed Sri Lankan roads?
Please send the YouTube link as could not participate for the full lecture due to power cut. Mgmaily

For a box located perpendicular to the road, how much benefit in terms of load-effect reduction and
resulting economies can be obtained through a 3D model compared to a 2D frame model (which is
intuitively easier to model and interpret?
Did you consider soil springs on the side walls as well? And did you consider compression only soil
springs or fully elastic springs?
From User’s iPhone to Everyone 08:26 PM
Are there anyway to idealise and quantify lateral boundary conditions of a box culvert using FEM?
Sir, Do we need to consider about the skew angle while modeling the structure?
For LM3 loads what would be the speed to be consider for analysis. ( Code says Normal speed and slow
speed)
There are haunches in the culverts, how to get the effect of haunches when modelling with finite
elements?
Are you considering the effect of soil arching that will leads to change the dead load above the culvert
top slab?
Have you considered PD 6694 part 1 for traffic loading? Thank you
what is the software good for finite element model sap orothers??
Is it necessary to use granular material around the culvert to provide better drain condition?
Thank you very much for the informative lecture Mr. Yasela.
