ARMS AND HAND SIGNAL

OBJECTIVE:
1.To be able to know briefly and clearly the importance of hand signal.
2.To be able to identify, characterize and demonstrate some of the usual arm and hand
signals used in AFP activities.

Purpose of Arm & Hand Signal


Characterized other important activities without extra verbal communications.
It is a tool to ease one’s job at any level of complexity of the environment he/she is
moving on.
Hand signals are often more very limited in the effectiveness can be a threat to
security.

DEFINITION OF TERMS
HALT - to stop, cease or pause specially on milt operations.Arm raised at shoulder
level with open hand, fingers extended and joined together.

FREEZE - to make motionless /clenched fist at shoulder level

ALERT - to be watchful and wide awake or “ ALISTO “ in Tagalog. / clenched or close


fist tightly with forefingers upright

ENEMY SIGHTED - clenched fist with three fingers upright.

PREPARE TO ENGAGE - sign of being ready to come or attack the main enemy
forces.

ENGAGE - in warfare or dispute, it means to come to grip, to attack.

DANGER AREA - to characterize risky or restricted area.

enemy.

PLATOON LEADER - two fingers placed on the shoulder to indicate the officers rank.
DOUBLE TIME - to double, keep pace or every thing must be bounded.
FREEZE AND LISTEN - freeze signal followed by a hand cupped to the ear.
