MEASUREMENT OF RESPIRATION IN AN AQUEOUS ENVIRONMENT

Question Guide:
1. What is respiration?
_ Respiration is a chemical process that occurs in all living cells, whether they are plant
or animal cells. It is the mechanism by which glucose is converted into the energy
necessary for all other chemical reactions to take place.
2. Why is there a need to add sulfuric acid to the experimental and reference flasks?
When doing chemical experiments, sulfuric acid must always be added to water, not vice
versa. Sulfuric acid is a powerful dehydrator, and concentrated sulfuric acid removes
water from a variety of substances. It is frequently used as a dehydrating agent.
3. Show computation for volume/drop, uMCO2 represented and respiration rate.
