SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM GOALS

Short-Term Goals

Enter a BA (Hons) MT Course

My intention, after doing the Foundation course this year, is to enter a BA Musical Theatre
Programme. I’m applying to IAB as a first choice since I really loved my experience here but
I’m also looking for some schools in London. I have not decided which ones yet, but I am
looking for some that focus on the three areas equally (dance, singing and drama).
I have improved so much this year that I feel like I’m now ready to enter this course and
keep learning and improving my performing skills.

Improve balance, resistance and body strength

Dancers are required to have specific characteristics which are very important to achieve
different kinds of hard, fast or constant moves while dancing. To improve my balance I will do
exercises to toughen my ankles and core. To develop my resistance (which I think will be the
harder one for me since I have asthma) I will try to run three times a week. And finally, to
strengthen my body I will go through all the “bodycon'' exercises we’ve learned this year
three or four times a week.

Have a repertoire for auditions

Before starting the Foundation course I had no idea what my repertoire was; I did not know
what songs to use or what monologues to recite, I was completely lost. But now I have been
finding different strengths that I have, how to develop them and through which songs or
monologues to show them. Thanks to this course I have been finding and improving my
artistic self and for this reason I consider that by the end of this course I will have a varied
repertoire for future auditions, which I want to continue expanding during the BA course.

Do a triple pirouette

I will try to achieve it by april/June since I have a really good spotting but my balance
weakens by the second pirouette and I tend to open my rib cage and relax my core when it
should be strong the whole time.

Learn how to control my voice while singing

I think I can achieve it by the end of this course since I have improved a lot, technically
speaking, with both group and individual singing classes. I know it will be a long road since
throughout my career I will improve and learn new vocal techniques, but it starts with
something and I think I am on the right track.
Do the splits, both front and side
I’m so close to achieving the front splits but I still need to improve them as well as the front
one, so I will do stretching and flexibility exercises three to four times a week.
