1775.

November
Mr. Javis Lorry Works from Tellson’s Bank in London. He meets in Dover with Miss
Manette (pretty, golden hair and blue eyes). He explains her her father is alive although
seh thought he had died. Her father was in prison in Paris. Now he is free in the house
of an old servant.
Mr Lorry and Miss Manette go to Paris to look for her father. He’s in Defarge’s house.
He spends the day making shoes and he isn’t well. That same day the come back to
London. Madame Defarge sees them. She’s knitting.

1780. Charles Darnay is on a trial. They think he is a French spy. John Barsad speaks
against him. Miss Manette speaks for Mr. Darnay. At the end he’s found Not Guilty.
His lawyer is Mr. Stryver. Sydeny Carton is his assistant. He looks like Mr. Darnay.
Miss Manette, Lucie, lives with her father, Dr. Manette and a servant Miss Pross. Dr.
Manette is well and working.
Meanwhile, in France, the Marquis of Evremonde is coming back to his castle in his
coach. He is disappointed because he couldn’t speak with the king. His coach runs over
a boy, Jacques, and kills him. He doesn’t mind. He throws a coin to the boy’s father.
Mr. Defarge sees everythin. That night, his nephew Charles Darnay visist the Marquis.
Charles is not happy with the way his family treat people. He thinks they are cruel
landoowners. Next day the Marquis has been killed with a knife. A peide of paper was
in his chest: From Jacques.
A year later, Darnay is working as a tecaher in London. He was in love with Lucie. One
day he decides to speak with Dr. Manette and tells him his feelings. He asks Dr.Manette
if Lucie tells him she loves Darnay, he will accept their relation. Dr. Manette accepts
but when Lucie comes back home Dr. Manette is ill.
In August Mr. Carton tells Lucie he is in love with her. But he says it’s too late for him
because he has had bad habits. He promises her to give his life to keep someone she
loves alive.
Lucie marries to Charles Darnay. Before Darnay speaks to Dr. Manette and tells him his
real name. Dr. Manette is again ill and starts making shoes for nine days and nights.
Then he recovers.
In Monsieur Defarge’s wine-shop several men meet. They call themselves Jacques. One
of them explains that Gaspar, the father of the boy who was killed by the Marquis, had
been hung in the village square for the murder of the Marquis. The men decide to write
all the family of Evremonde in a list. John Barsad is in France. He’s a spy. He tells
Defarge about Lucie marraige to Charles Darnay. Defarge isn’t happy. In summer a
crowd with guns and knives take the Bastille. Defarge checks the rooom where Dr.
Manette had been and finds some papers. That night the Marquis’ castle is burnt. Nobles
die and the King is in prison. Somenoblemen escape to London. Mr. Lorry has to go to
France to find and hide papers dangerous for the bank customers. Darnay warns him no
to go. That day a letter for the Marquis of Evremonde arrives. Nobody aparts from Dr.
Manette knows that Darnay is the new Marquis. It’s a letter from Gabelle, the servant in
the castle. He’s in prison because he worked for an inmigrant. Darnay writes a letter for
his wife and Dr. Manette and goes to Paris. When he reaches Paris he is taken to the
prison of La Force.
When Mr. Lorry is in France, Lucie and Dr. Manette appear. Mr. Lorry asks Manette to
speak to the people before they kill Darnay. Next day Lucie gets a piece of paper from
Darnay. He is OK. Mr and Mrs Defarge visit Lucie, Mrs. Defarge is really cold with
her. Manette speaks to the Tribunal in the prison. They agree not to kill Darnay but he
can’t leave. One year and three months later Darnay is still in prison. Manette works as
a doctor to three prisons. Darnay is called for his trial. Five judges are there. Gabelle
and Manette speak for him. Darnay is set free but he can’t leave Paris because he
doesn’t have the papers. That night four men takes Darnay again to prison. At that
moment Miss Pross is shopping and she finds her brother Solomon, who is known as
John Barsad. Carton appears and they all go to Mr. Lorry. Carton threatens Barsad to
help him or he will denounce him as an English spy. Carton makes a deal with Barsad.
If Darnay is found guilty, Carton will visit him before. Then he buys some powders.
Next morning Defarge explains to the tribunal when he checked Manette’s room in La
Bastille he found a letter that Manette had written. There Manette explained that one
night he was taken to a house were a woman was on bed. There was also a boy with a
sword dying. The boy tells the doctor his sister married a sick man. A nobleman wanted
her so they made her husband worked to die. Then they took his sister. When his father
knew, he died. The boy wanted to defend his sister, so he hid his younger sister and then
tried to rescue his old sister. But he was killed. The old sister also died a days later. The
nobleman was the Marquis of Evremonde. The Marquis’ wife and his son visited the
doctor because they wanted to help the young sister. Next day Manette wrote a letter to
the King’s official but he was taken to prison by the Evremonde brothers. After that,
Darnay is condemned to die. Lucie falls unconscious and Carton takes her home. Then
he shows himself in the wine shop where he listens that Madame Defarge wants to kill
Lucie and her daughter too. Madame Defarge is the young sister. Carton warns Mr.
Lorry to leave Paris with Manette and his family. Next morning Carton visits Darnay in
prison and makes him sleep. Then he exchanges their clothes. Barsad takes Darnay to
Mr. Lorry and they leave Paris inmediately. Carton dies in the guillotine.
Madame Defarge wants revenge and go to look for Lucie but they have left Paris. She
finds Miss Pross and they fight. Madame Defarge is shot. Miss Pross leaves the house.
