1. INTRODUCTION
ETR306 is installed in 22.9kV-Y/△ multi way of switchgear(combination of circuit
breaker and switch) of distribution line and can be controlled locally or remotely.
It is compact as product is produced as slim type.
ETR306 receives measured signal and status information from each way of
switchgear and its controller. So it can inspect voltage and current flow on
distribution line. It can remotely transmit distribution line status such as FI
detection, single line/phase loss, live/dead line, phase discordance, over current,
direction of tidal flow, direction of fault detection as well as condition of each
way of switchgear and its controller.
Because it can supports to receive remotely control command from each way of
switchgear breaker distribution automation system is perfectly supported. It can
be easily applied for user's communication environment through various
communication method (DNP3.0, MODBUS, IEC60870-5-101/104 option) support.
Control switch on front panel can be used to operate manual open/close for each
way of switchgear, and select fault detect/restrain, ground detect normal/restrain,
control select local/remote, and control lock/unlock operation mode.
ETR306 has a PLC (Programmable Logic Control) changed by user. The PLC can
control input and output using information of timer, counter and internal event.
INTERFACE SOFTWARE is easy to use and things such as set value and
operation record can be saved and administered in PC. It is useful for fault
analysis since it has an excellent zoom function and it has a function that
Indicate fault waveform and digital operation factor status together with time.

Key Description
From initial screen, it changes to menu selection mode and in the submenu of
each menu it is used as a function to go to the menu before. If pressed in the
Main Menu, it is used to change to the initial screen mode. If this key operates
when setting value is changed, all the changed values will return to the original
[FUN]
value set before.
It is used for selecting menu and changing the set value. In the menu selecting
screen, it operates as a menu selecting function and when the set value is
changed, it changes to menu changing mode in the relevant value's change mode
[ENT] (it operates in toggle method when changing the menu select/setting).
It is used to move the menu up or increase the set value. All the menu is made
as a structure that moves to the bottom location of the menu if in the top location
of the menu since it has a rotation selection function. This function is also applied
when changing set value so the key set value is selected after changing the top
[ UP ] set value. If the button is pressed, it increases one by one and if pressed for
more than 2 seconds, it increases rapidly.
It is used to move the menu to the bottom or decrease the set value. The
rotation selection function is applied for this button too, just like the [UP] key,
when changing the menu/ set value. If the button is pressed, it decreases one by
[DOWN] one and if pressed for more than 2 seconds, it decreases rapidly.
Choose 1 way from the 6 way. If this key is pressed, it changes to the initial
CIR
screen of the chosen circuit.
CUIT
※. NOTE ) The changed value does not get saved if this key is pressed when
[1~6 WAY] changing the set value.
<Figure 6-2> Circuit Menu Tree Structure for Circuit Breaker Part(CB)
Initial screen is composed of circuit initial screen and common initial screen.
It moves to relevant initial screen if [CIRCUIT] or [COMMON] key are
pressed.
Press [▲][▼] key to move to selected initial screen.
It moves to main menu if [FUN] key is pressed in initial screen.

curve option is also available allowing the user to create customer time current
curves for more enhanced coordination than the standard curve types.
Two methods of this resetting operation are available, Instantaneous and Linear.
The Instantaneous selection is intended for applications with other relays, such
as most static units, which set the energy capacity directly to zero when the
current falls below the reset threshold. The Linear selection can be used where
the relay must coordinate with electro-mechanical units.
If the circuit breaker is closed by pressing the [CLOSE] button on the front

The cold load pickup function is operated to prevent TRIP from overcurrent
elements when an inrush current occurs during manual closing by local/remote
control. The setting values of Cold Load Pickup function for phase, ground
overcurrent elements can be programmed separately.
If pickup level of overcurrent occurring at closing is over cold load pickup
current, trip is done by overcurrent function (Refer Inrush Current 1 in “<Figure
6-17> The Restore Minimum Time Characteristic”).
If overcurrent is below cold load pickup current and overcurrent pickup current,
overcurrent functions are not operated during a period of Restore minimum
Time(RMT)(Refer Inrush Current 2 in “<Figure 6-17> The Restore Minimum
Time Characteristic”). After RMT, overcurrent functions are operated. However,
if current is dropped below overcurrent pickup current during RMT, cold load
pickup function is reset after reset time(Refer Inrush Current 3 in “<Figure

phase CTs, selected Maximum Torque Angle (MTA), voltage and current phasors.
To increase security of all directional controls, add one power frequency cycle of
intentional delay to prevent incorrect operation.
The directional controls have each four settings. The directional controls settings

The V1 value can be lost in case of fault occurrence in the voltage

ETR306 has Auto Reclosing(79) function that electrical power system can be
rapidly tripped when line fault is occurred, circuit breaker can be reclosed after
a given interval (reclosing interval). In case of temporary fault caused by
momentary contact of extraneous substance, lightning or loss of insulation and so
on, range of fault and outage time can be minimized by this reclosing function.
After a fault has occurred, the Reclose element closes the recloser when the
programmed reclose interval time expires. The number of operation lockout
setting is programmed one to four, and each reclose shot has its own separate
reclose interval timer.
If the fault is permanent and the recloser continues to trip and reclose, the
Reclose element will continue to increment the operating counter. If this
continues to the maximum number of the operating lockout programmed in the
Reclose element, the reclose logic lockouts. At this moment, if make close
operation remotely or locally, Lockout is released and fault detecting is activated.
Also, if the fault is temporary, the Lockout sequence of the Recloser is Rest by
Reset logic. If the fault is transient, then the reclose logic is reset by the reset
logic.
Auto reclosing sequence operation status is displayed on the LEDs of ‘79 Reset’,
‘79 Cycle’ and ‘79 Lockout’ as follows.
LOCKOUT
Following cases are occurred to lockout. Due to the fact that auto reclosing does
not function in lockout status, circuit breaker should be closed to control locally
or remotely.

(3) 2nd Trip - 2nd TCC (4) 2nd Reclose Interval Time
(5) 3rd Trip - 3rd TCC (6) 3rd Reclose Interval Time
(7) 4th Trip - 4th TCC
RESET
RESET is displayed on back to normal status, following cases are occurred to
reset.
Lockout ➜ Reset : lockout reset time elapses after circuit breaker manually
or remotely operates to trip.
Cycle ➜ Reset : auto reset time elapses after returning to normal status from
reclosing sequence for temporary fault.
(1) 1st Trip - 1st TCC (2) 1st Reclose Interval Time
(3) 2nd Trip - 2nd TCC (4) 2nd Reclose Interval Time
(5) 3rd Trip - 3rd TCC (6) 3rd Reclose Interval Time
If fault occurs again during auto reset time duration, reclosing operation proceeds
to Lockout after remaining operations except count the number of times the
previous operation.
CYCLE
It displays sequence operating. Cycle is activated to trip operation of overcurrent
protection and keeps whenever total trip count reaches to the preset total
number of operation. Cycle performs that the Reclose element closes the
recloser when the programmed reclose interval time expires. (only the Cycle
condition occurs when Auto Reclosing function is enabled).
