NARRATIVE REPORT IN BRIGADA PAGPABASA

S.Y. 2020-2021

The present COVID-19 pandemic has brought extraordinary challenges and

has affected the educational sectors, and no one knows when it will end. Every

country is presently implementing plans and procedures on how to contain the virus,

and the infections are still continually rising. In the educational context, to sustain

and provide quality education despite lockdown and community quarantine, the new

normal should be taken into consideration in the planning and implementation of the

“new normal educational policy”. Amidst of pandemic the Department of Education

pursue its mission and vision to attain quality education. Project REAL is a program

of Bagong Silang Elem. School which focus on enhancing the reading abilities of

BSES pupils and make sure that those in Frustration level will go up to Instructional

level and the instructional ones would be up to Independent level

It is indeed a big challenge for everyone to conduct the Project REAL in

modular approach however, parents are supportive upon the administration of the

examination and our learners are eager in demonstrating their skills in reading. Our

teachers plan accordingly the strategies in delivering the Pre-test in Project REAL. In

conducting, we asked our dear parents/guardian to have a timer while the learner is

taking the oral reading. For oral reading test, the teachers will conduct homebound or

house to house visit to the learners to ensure that the learners can able to read the

given sentence. Even though its non-face to face some teachers had home visitation

to conduct the oral reading. Reading Comprehension is crucial part among our
learners especially in grade four for it’s a transition period from mother tongue to

English. Analysis and higher order thinking skills must be possess among our learner

in able to attain a good result. The result of the examination will be used in making

some intervention to assist the learners that are having difficulties and have some

activities to enhance their reading level.
