1. Notes on Pronunciation
The goal is the simplest pronunciation possible for the purposes
of personal prayers, not for vocal performance or precisely accu-
rate recitation. Consequently, Masoretic accenting has not been
included, and so pronunciation (e.g., stress) may not conform to
such accenting. With respect to the divine name (YHWH), I have
adopted ADONAI, which is the conventional pronunciation of the
divine name. Vowels are to be pronounced as follows:

a = short a, as in “bat” e = short e, as in “bet”
ā or â = long a, as in “father” ē or ê = long e, as in “prey”
āy = ay, as in “aye” (“eye”)
i = short i, as in “tip” o = short o, as in “cot”
î = long i, as in “machine” ō or ô = long o, as in “rope”
u = short u, as in “cup” All superscripted vowels are
û = long u, as in “rude” short “half” vowels.

ִ ִלי ב ֶֹשת ַה ָפנִ ים ִּכי ָח ָט
Open shame belongs to me, for I have sinned against you. To the
Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness.

ת־עֹון ַע ְב ְדָך ִכי נִ ְס ַכ ְל ִתי ְמאֹד
ֲ יְ הוָ ה ַה ֲע ֶבר־נָ א ֶא
O Yahweh, please remove the iniquity of your servant, for I have
acted very foolishly.

ן־ש ְמָך יְ הוָ ה וְ ָס ַל ְח ָת ַל ֲעֹונִ י ִכי ַרב־הּוא

For the sake of your name, O Yahweh, pardon my iniquity, for it
is great.

יתנִ י יְ ִהי־נָ א ַח ְס ְדָך ְלנַ ֲח ֵמנִ י
ָ ִיָ ַד ְע ִתי יְ הוָ ה ִּכי ְב ֱאמּונָ ה ִענ
I know, O Yahweh, that in your faithfulness you have afflicted me.
Let your loyal love comfort me.

Be gracious to me, O God, According to your loyal love! In accord
with your abundant compassion blot out my transgressions!

Πάτερ ἡμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς· ἁγιασθήτω τὸ ὄνομά σου, ἐλθέτω ἡ
βασιλεία σου, γενηθήτω τὸ θέλημά σου, ὡς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς·
τὸν ἄρτον ἡμῶν τὸν ἐπιούσιον δὸς ἡμῖν σήμερον· καὶ ἄφες ἡμῖν τὰ
ὀφειλήματα ἡμῶν, ὡς καὶ ἡμεῖς ἀφήκαμεν τοῖς ὀφειλέταις ἡμῶν·

Who am I, O Lord Yahweh, and who is my family, that you have
brought me this far?

ּתֹוש ֵיבנִ י
ִ יְ הוָ ה ְל ָב ָדד ָל ֶב ַטח
O Yahweh, you alone have caused me to dwell in safety.

ּתֹור ְתָך ְת ַל ְמ ֶדּנּו

Blessed is the man whom you discipline, O Yah(weh), and whom

I will give thanks, O Yahweh, for even though you were angry with
me, your anger turned away from me, and you comforted me.
