2-The Inter Global Moving and Storage Company is setting up a control chart to monitor the proportion of
residential moves that result in written complaints due to late delivery, lost items, or damaged items. A
sample of 50 moves is selected for each of the last 12 months. The number of written complaints in each
sample is 8, 7, 4, 8, 2, 7, 11, 6, 7, 6, 8, and 12.
(a) Design a percent defective chart. Insert the mean percent defective, UCL and LCL.
(b) Plot the proportion of written complaints in the last 12 months.(using software)
(c) Interpret the chart. Does it appear that the number of complaints is out of control for any of the
months?
(d) On which Probability distribution does the given chart based? state reason
Also prepare the Quality plan.
Q-2
Q-3 A company produces a liquid which can vary in its pH levels unless the production process is
carefully controlled. Quality control technicians routinely monitor the pH of the liquid. When the process is
in control, the pH of the liquid varies according to a normal distribution with mean µ = 6.0 and standard
deviation σ = 0.9 . a. The quality control plan calls for collecting samples of size three from batches
produced each hour. Using n = 3, calculate the lower control limit (LCL) and upper control limit (UCL). b.
Samples collected over a 24-hour time period appear in Table below. Compute the sample means for
each of the 24 samples and add the results to a copy of Table below.
