Description
A350 fleet has experienced several cases of arcing between VFG AC phases on VFG’s terminal block
associated with:
- Short circuit  channel trip  ELEC GEN xA FAULT
- Failure WRG TO VFG-xA(4001XUx) PIN T1 / GCU-xA(1XUx) / VFG-xA(4001XUx)
- Electrical network reconfigured
- A/C can be dispatched under MEL with VFG inoperative.
- No OI reported but significant maintenance burden

Consequence
Loss of 1 VFG with electrical network reconfiguration from another VFG channel

Investigation Status
- All event reported during winter period.
- All affected VFG position are 1A or 2A.
- On some VFG, UTAS Material Lab shows foreign contamination of Chlorine and Potassium at
arcing area
- Investigation is ongoing and focused on VFG-Feeders integration on RR engine.

Mitigation / Interim Plan

1. MMEL 24-22-02A (AC MAIN GENERATION) can be applied to dispatch the impacted Aircraft.
2. VFG and feeders replacement recommended.
