Online Selling is very popular and in demand right now. It can be defined as
an act of selling, trading, exchanging, or buying of goods or products via Internet
or mobile application in exchange for a certain amount of money.

Since the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) shocked and entered our country,
many businesses, companies, and even organizations are forced to close it and
many employees got their job lost. It is a life threatening, especially to those
people who are included in the “No Work No Pay” scheme where job and time is
very essential. Many of them are devastated so they try to enter the E-Commerce
and Online Selling world.

Most of the time, people are searching for what they need online. We cannot
deny the fact that most of the consumers are really into it and must prefer to shop
via online instead of going to the malls and even in the physical store. Maybe
because of the rising number of active cases and they need to assure the safety of
their families and loved ones.

We all know that different taxes are very evident in our country. It is like a
lifeblood in every government and considered as one of the essentials. Taxes are
very helpful to the government, because it can be their resources. If someone from
the government needs to establish an infrastructure, they can use these taxes to
provide the necessities. In addition, we, students from state universities and are
embracing free education and it is because of the taxpayers.

But on the other hand, does online needs to be taxed? For me, yes. But
there’s an exemption for me. In every tax obligation, there’s a requirement and
there can be an exemption. Why? Because it can be unfair for those online sellers
who are earning for a small income rather than those who earns a thousand and
even ten to hundred thousand. Online sellers must pay taxes because they are
earning from an online platform and they are using it to sell their goods and
products. They need to pay the fair and just tax in related to it and must prepare to
be evaluated and be registered in the BIR.

Based on my perception, every online seller should register to the BIR

especially the nature of their business. Those online sellers who earns Php 10,000
and above should pay the tax while those who earns below the said amount should
be exempted from it. Imagine, some of them are getting their daily necessities by
means of this E-Commerce and Online Selling, and if you think those individuals
who earns only a hundred and needs to pay tax? For me, that is not fair. That is not
humane. That’s unfair. So, for me, those online sellers who earns a lot by means of
online selling should pay taxes rather than those who earns only a hundred or Php
10,000 below.
