Introduction
Idea
While we were choosing our UN goal, we were aiming to select a goal that was
relevant to everyday life. We decided that the UN goal 3 which is Good Health and
Wellbeing, 12 which is Responsible Consumption and Production and 13 which is
Climate action would fulfil these expectations. At first, we were planning to do
something on the lines on electricity, however our opinion changed
once Tim had given us an idea about microplastic particles. We were quick
to implement this due to the unawareness of this topic and immediately decided on
this since we consume enormous amounts of microplastics every single day. It is also
to take note that microplastics are a sort of new phenomenon, and it’s not talked
about as much as the other global crisis’s.
Purpose
Our purpose with this experiment is to see how educated people are about their
intake, knowledge, and awareness of microplastics. We hope to understand how
aware people are of this rising problem in our world and definitely also to educate
our classmates of this problem.
FUN FACT

Research Question
To what extent are the students of the S3EN class at The European
School Copenhagen aware about their microplastic consumption?
2
Problem and Hypothesis
1. PROBLEM
Our major problem is how unaware people are of microplastics. There are many
other globally as equivalent issues around the world, however microplastics tend to
be given less importance since it is not as serious yet, like mentioned before, but if
we continue polluting this world with microplastics in our current pace, soon we
would depend on plastics and many lives would be taken simply because our
generation was not aware about such a topic. If this does not get enough attention
in the next couple of years, it will turn into a much bigger and critical problem.

Materials List and Procedure
1. MATERIALS LIST
1. We will first ask the students to take the online survey which will give them
with their production and consumption of microplastic particles.
2. We will divide the class in four batches, each consisting of 7 students
except for the last one.
3. We will record their results in the table according to their batch number.
4. Next, we will present the data in the form of a bar graph to compare and
analyze the figures in a better way.
5. We will present their average intake of microplastic particles to the
class and tell them about its harmful effects.
6. This will inspire them to use less of plastic which is beneficial for both them
and the environment.
