Past simple

En los verbos regulares se añade –ed a la raíz del verbo (work–worked) o -d si el verbo
termina en –e (move–moved).
En la forma negativa e interrogativa se utiliza el auxiliar DID, y se quita –ed (la marca de
pasado) al verbo:
She worked till late last night
She didn’t work till late last night
Did she work till late last night?

EL VERBO EN PASADO SIMPLE AFIRMATIVA

1. Si el verbo termina en-e se añade -d.


Por ejemplo:

2. Si el verbo termina en consonante, se añade ‘-ed’.


Por ejemplo:
PRESENT TENSE PAST TENSE

Want Wanted

Shout Shouted

Kill Killed

3. En los verbos regulares de una sola sílaba con vocal seguida de consonante, se dobla la
consonante final y se añade -ed para formar el pasado simple:

Si la letra final es “w,” “x,” or “y,” no se duplica:


 sew > sewed
 play > played
 fix > fixed

4. Si el verbo termina en [consonante + “y”], se cambia la “y” por una “i” y se añade “ed
