1. GRAMMAR
1.1. PAST CONTINUOUS
USE We use the past continuous to talk about actions in
progress at a moment in the past
POSSITIVE was/were+verb+ing I/he/she/it WAS eating
We/you/they WERE eating
NEGATIVE wasn’t/weren’t I/he/she/it wasn’t eating
+verb+ing We/you/they weren’t eating
QUESTION Was/were+pronoun+ Was (I/he/she/it) eating?
verb+ing? Were (We/you/they) eating?

SHORT ANSWER Yes I/he/she/it WAS eating


Yes we/you/they WERE eating
No I/he/she/it WASN’T eating
No we/you/they WEREN’T eating
WATCH OUT!  When we add the -ing we need to remember
some rules:
1. If a verb ends in “e”, we remove the “e”.
Ex: take>taking, write>writing
2. If a short verb ends in
consonant+vowel+consonant, we double the
last consonant. Ex.: plan>planning,
put>putting
