[5 marks]

a) Name the two similar triangles with the proper vertex order and briefly explain why they are similar.

b) Find the distance, CE, across the river

2. State the values the three primary trigonometric ratios for the angle C. [3 marks]

and looks up to the top of the building and measures the angle of elevation to be 52o from the ground. How far
from the building is Lila standing to the nearest tenth of a metre? [4 marks]

7. Sandra is on a skiing trip to Whistling Mountain and gets off of a ski lift at the top of the mountain. She is told
the lift cable is 203m long and the altitude of the mountain is 143m. Determine the angle of depression of the ski
lift cable? [4 marks]

later they are 800 km apart. Find the angle between their courses. [4 marks]

9. Two planes flying at the same altitude are 3000m apart when they spot a raft on the water between them. The
angles of depression to the raft are 47 degrees and 38 degrees. Find the distance from the raft to the closest
plane. [4 marks]
