Inspire 12 & 13 is a two-year
programme, delivered primarily
online. The core of the programme
is online Twilight Sessions which
include a choice of pre-recorded
academic taster lectures (this
year our theme is ‘Order in Our
World’) and an interactive skills
session on topics such as personal
statements, and managing your
money at university.

Virtual Summer School
All pupils on the Inspire
Programme are invited to attend
virtual summer school, which
offers academic lectures, skills
sessions and careers advice.
Parents, Carers & Teachers
Online webinars will be hosted
for parents and carers, and
teachers, of Inspire 12 & 13
pupils. Topics will include ‘The
University of Oxford’, ‘The
Oxford application process’
and ‘Interviews’.

Year 12 Inspire pupils will also be
invited to apply for competitive
spaces on:
● Residential Summer School
A residential summer school at
St John’s College to experience
a taster of student life at the
University of Oxford.
● Study Days
A number of places are reserved
on St John’s Study Days for pupils
on the Year 12 & 13 Inspire
Programme. Study Days offer
pupils a more in depth look at
their subject, with a chance to
meet tutors, students, and visit
St John’s College.
● Inspire Research Project
Pupils will be guided in how to
prepare and submit a research
project proposal. Winning
entries will be awarded book
vouchers, and pupils will be
invited to a research day at St
John’s College.
How to Apply
This programme is open to pupils
currently in Year 12 attending non-
selective state schools in the St John’s
College link regions: Brighton &
Hove, Ealing, East Sussex, Harrow,
Southampton, West Sussex, as well as
areas in the Oxford for South East
group (Hampshire, Isle of Wight,
Kent, Medway, Portsmouth, Surrey).
Selection is based on academic
merit and a brief personal
statement on the application form.
