Experiment No. 1

Crab Walk Race (speed)

A. Introduction

Speed relates to how fast something is moving and how fast it moves over a distance. For example,
something moving very fast, like a train, can cover a large distance in a short time. Something moving
slowly, like a walking man, will travel a very short distance in the same amount of time. An object that
is not moving has zero speed.

B. Problem

How does distance and time take place in time?

C. Materials

Stopwatch, measuring tape/ meter stick/ ruler

E. Procedure

1. Find a spot at home where you can perform the “crab walk race” Measure a 20-meter track. Mark
the starting and finish line. (You can measure 5 - meter track and just do it back and forth)

2. Ask 3 of your family members including you to participate in the race. Make sure they are physically
fit.

3. Let them position in the starting line and finish the 5-meter track one at a time.

4. Use a stopwatch to record the result of the race at the finish line. 5. Record and analyze the results.

NOTES: for you to have the 5 m distance

If you will use meter stick (5 times of meterstick)

For the ruler Inches (16 times of ruler of 12 inches)
