a) Explain how you relate a technology with new generations of mapmakers and map
users.

geospatial advocacy and awareness among communities.

a) Concisely explain the quantitative mapping techniques you would choose to display the
urban air pollution in Perlis.

b) Explain on Bertin’s visual variables and visual perception in COVID-19 symbol designs.

c) You are given five (5) different situations in map making as shown in Table 1. Based on
your understanding on the map symbolization, justify an appropriate measurement class
and visual variable for each situation.

a) Englighten the important roles of multimedia techniques in changing conventional

cartography.

b) Explain the key tasks involved in developing multimedia titles.

c) The Sukma Games is a yearly multi-sport event that brings together young athletes from
Malaysia's 13 member states and the Federal Territory. Based on the all time medal table
of Sukma Games from 1986 to 2018 for top-9 states in the country (Table 2), produce a
creative thematic map with suitable quantitative mapping techniques and symbols to
show the classified data.

b) Cultural tourism is a type of tourism that allows the tourist to participate in local cultural
activities. As an innovative cartographer, you are required to create an creative map and
to develop an interactive mapping website for Negeri Kedah to promote the cultural
tourism attractions of the state such as the festival, historical places, and other ritual
activities. Ilustrate all the possible flowcharts of storyboard and layout sketch for the map
production and presentation.

a) Identify three (3) general criteria when designing an accessible mapping website.

b) The maps are getting smarter by showing us the world under different perpectives and
parameters. Explain.

c) Mercator and other cartographers sketched out our globe for explorers to utilise on their
daring voyages around the world. Some of the older maps are unquestionably works of
art. However, times have changed from paper maps to the digital age. While the
fundamentals of traditional cartography are also changing, the vanished art form's
fundamentals remain the same. Cartographers still maintain balance, harmony and
legibility when creating their visual masterpiece. In the context of a cartographer salary
around the world, the average income in various nations throughout the world is still
dependent on the local currency. Give your constructive points of view on the relevancy
of cartographer skills and jobs in the 21st century.
