The underdark

The rise of the Crescent Lord within Dwarapur proved to be a great boon for the
skaven- in particular, for clan Eshin, which had masterminded the operation. Their
agent, Massat the Shadowed, had acted as Word of the Underdark, carefully guiding
the actions of his human monks. With Eshin able to claim such a victory their
prestige in Skavenblight increased. Such things meant little for Eshin itself- as a
clan who operated from the shadows, adulation from the teeming masses mattered
little to them. It were the Grey Seers who gained most by Massat's achievement.

There has always been a strong tie between the mysterious assassins of Eshin and
the enigmatic prophets of the Horned Rat. Eshin's victory in the East allowed the
Seer council to reclaim some of the prestige it had lost during the events
surrounding the Academy of Evocation. The Accusition, backed by clan Pestilens, had
used those events to chip away at the prestige of the Grey Seers, while improving
their own standing. Now, however, it was the Seer Council's turn to claim
greatness. The monks of the Crescent had been their instrument, and with it they
had opened the door to skaven supremacy in Ind- a region difficult to penetrate for
even the prolific ratmen.

The subjugation of humanity in Dwarapur would start slow, however, for in the final
days the man-thing Urvish Jali- ally of the monks- had been removed from power
through the machinations of the Empire. Had it not been so, the conversion of
mankind's faith in the Crescent Lord to supplication before the Horned Rat would
have begun immediately- as it was, the skaven would have to wait and lay low. It
was an annoying setback, but it did little to diminish the victory of clan Eshin in
Dwarapur.

For now the clan was content to simply relish in what they had accompished. Many of
the offerings received by the monks of the Crescent were funneled to clan Eshin,
allowing the clan to grow rich and strong. Indeed, with the advent of slave trade
being legalized in Dwarapur, many unfortunates were secretly offered to the "dark
spirits", increasing the workforce of Eshin substantially. Both the Accusition and
clan Uragiri watched with concern as clan Eshin ascended, reclaiming its position
as the premier power of the eastern underdark.
