The past year has been a difficult one in many ways. Navigating life through a
pandemic has been at times confusing and complicated. And while it’s easy to
point to all the physical things that have changed in day-to-day life, it may be
harder to recognize that spiritual lives have been affected too.
Many of us attended Mass on-line for weeks and months at a time. Not seeing
friends or family meant a loss of sharing our lives with loved ones and neighbors.
It was a time of solitary prayer and for reading spiritual books, which are both
good things. But sometimes a steady diet of solo prayer and self-reflection can
lead to stagnation. It can feel like your relationship with God is not growing or
progressing as much as you’d like. Maybe you feel a little stuck and you’re not sure what will help you get back on track.
Spiritual direction is a great tool to use to grow in faith and deepen your relationship with God. Partnering with a director provides
a dedicated time to talk about your struggles and challenges in relating to the Lord and to the people in your life. It also gives you a
place to recognize the joys, big and small, that are gifted to you each day.
Growing into a closer relationship with God and others is the goal of our lives. Meeting with a spiritual director once a month for
an hour can help you work on that goal through reflecting on your prayer life and examining your connection to the Divine. It’s a
spiritual practice that can help you refocus on your spiritual life and grow in love as a child of God.
I am a certified Spiritual Director and have been a parishioner of St. Pius X for over thirty years. If you are interested in starting
direction, or just have questions, I’d love to talk to you about it. There are several options available to meet safely in an
environment that is comfortable for you. The spiritual life is the journey of a lifetime. Why walk alone?
