SANCTUARY LAMP
We have openings for the Sanctuary Lamp
during the year, with openings starting in
February. If you would like to book a particular
week in memory of your loved one, please
contact the office. Cost is $35 per week.
MASS INTENTIONS 2022
If you would like to have a Mass offered
for someone, contact the parish office.
The Mass stipend or offering given is
$10.00. Mass cards are $2.00.
Intentions are already booked into May.
PREAUTHORIZED DEBIT
(PAD) is offered for your donations. If you are
interested in using this convenient way to make your

 FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Are Isaiah, Paul
and Peter “worth it”
in this way? Let us
look at Sunday’s
readings and see if
these men fit the
current definitions.
First, in Reading
One, Isaiah receives a vision of heaven itself. The Lord
is seated on a high and lofty throne. The Seraphim
angel choir is crying out, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
of hosts! All the earth is filled with his glory!”*
It seems that Isaiah reacts with shame. “My eyes have
seen the King, the Lord of hosts! But woe is me, I am
doomed! For I am a man of unclean lips, living among
a people of unclean lips.”
In response an angel swoops down with a burning
coal to cleanse his lips!!!! He is doomed, alright, but
doomed to be made clean through suffering, to be made
able through it to speak of God.
Second, St. Paul says that Christ appeared to him
last of all, as to one born abnormally (Second Reading).
“For I am the least of the apostles, not fit to be called an
apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”
Unworthy, yes. But did the grace of God discard him?
No, it appointed him a key Apostle even though he had
never even met Jesus.
Third, there is the famous Gospel story. Jesus tells
Peter, James and John to fish in the deep water (where
they had been fishing and fishing and fishing all night
with no result). Without warning their nets are bloated
with fish. Peter cries out, “Depart from me, Lord, for I
am a sinful man.”
Experience of God let them understand that they are
far, far less than God. We react with shame; but notice
that God does not say in return, “I reject you,” but “I
love you dearly. Come be with me, you fine human
being.”

OFFERTORY ENVELOPES: REMINDERS
Please discard old offertory envelopes. Envelope
numbers get recycled, using old envelopes may result in
not getting credit for your donation. Please notify the
office for address changes. If you aren’t sure what your
parish ID is, send an email to the office. An ID can be
assigned if you haven’t registered, regardless if
offertory envelopes are issued.

RETROUVAILLE
Marriage Support - Is your marriage experience more
trouble than joy, feeling stagnant or disconnected and/
or causing you worries? Retrouvaille is a program for
married couples facing difficult challenges which
focuses on helping couples restore their marriage and
rebuild a loving relationship. It is designed to improve
communication, build stronger marriages, and help
couples reconnect and may help couples who may be
considering separation or divorce. The next

FEB. 8TH - DAY OF PRAYER AND
AWARENESS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING
Tuesday, February 8, is the International Day of
Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking. It is
celebrated on the Feast of St. Josephine Bakhita. Let us
pray for the victims and for those who work to end
human trafficking. For more information about this
issue that affects victims in our own local community,
please go to the RCMP Human Trafficking National
Coordination Centre website http://www.rcmp-

Pray the Rosary daily after Mass
during the week.
FEB. 11TH - FEAST OF OUR LADY OF LOURDES
On Friday, February 11, we celebrate Our Lady of
Lourdes. This is also the World Day of the Sick. This
day highlights the healing ministry of the Church and
recognizes the service of those involved in health care.
At the 9:00 a.m. mass we will anoint parishioners
who are ill, suffering from long term medical
conditions, or who are elderly. It is usual that
reconciliation (confessions) be done as part of this
sacrament. To accommodate this, Fr. Bill will also hear
confessions from 8:15-8:45 am on this day.
IS YOUR FAMILY EXPECTING A
CHILD?
For parents expecting a child, why not
prepare for Baptism earlier before the child
arrives? A new child demands a lot of
attention and parents become very busy after
the birth. Take a bit of pressure off yourself; do the
Baptism prep before the baby arrives. Contact Fr. Bill
for more detail.
This is how you pray continually - not by

yourself to God through your whole way
of life, so that your life becomes one
continuous and uninterrupted prayer.
