 The Nativity of the Lord

In these last days God has spoken to us by the Son.

The humility and
selflessness of Jesus
that will be the
centerpiece of his
ministry and mission
as the Messiah are
first seen in his simple
birth among the poor.
The true miracle of
Christmas continues
to take place in the Bethlehem's of our hearts. In the
emptiness of our souls, God forgives us, reassures us,
exalts us, elates us, loves us.
Christmas is more than a birth of a child; it is the
beginning of the Christ event that will transform and re-
create human history, a presence that continues to this
day and for all time.
In Jesus, the extraordinary love of God has taken our
“flesh” and “made his dwelling among us.” In his
“Word made flesh,” God touches us at the very core of
our beings, perfectly expressing his constant and
unchanging.
MIDNIGHT MASS BROADCAST
The annual broadcast of Midnight Mass from the
Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria will be

BINGO CHRISTMAS BREAK
Please be advised that there Bingo will not run on
Friday December 24th and 31st. Bingo will resume
in the New Year on Friday January 6th, 2023.

Dear friends and members of St. Helen Parish,
As our full 4 weeks of Advent season comes to
an end, we are entering into the beautiful time of
Christmas days. During these next two weeks of
Christmas season, we would have an opportunity to
marvel on this great mystery of the Incarnation of our
Lord Jesus Christ. “Though he was in the form of God,
Jesus did not deem equality with God something to be
grasped. Rather, he emptied himself and took the form
of a slave, being born in the likeness of me” (Philipp.
2,6-7a).
This is indeed a wonderful and priceless gift to
all of us. We are not able to pay Him back for that gift.
The only way we can do this is to live our lives as He
calls us to, “to love Him with all our heart, with all our
soul, with all our strength, and with all our mind, and
to love our neighbour as ourselves (Lk 10:27).
I would like to take this opportunity and
THANK each and every one of you for your dedication
to this parish family. By means of this letter I want to
express my gratitude for everything you have done for
me over the last 4 years as your pastor, and for this
parish. Your words of encouragement at different social
gatherings, your cards, gifts and support in any ways
showed that I am, indeed, richly blessed being a part of
this wonderful community.
We all remember parish members we lost this
past year and we welcome wholeheartedly the new
ones. This is how particular community continues its
existence. And so, as we continue our earthly journey,
we have to be aware of constant need of the grace
which only can come to us from the Lord. The
Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the centre of our faith,
will give us that much needed grace if we open
ourselves to it and repeat these words “Come Lord and
stay with us”. Only then we can go and proclaim that
“Christ is the reason for this season”. Into the humble
surroundings he was born to teach us that the true and
real hearts are the humble ones.
As we gather around our familiar surroundings,
with our family members and close friends, we don’t
just celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, we
CELEBRATE His coming to our lives, to our homes
and to our hearts. We reconcile ourselves, we put aside
any differences and we unite with each other the best
way we can singing with one voice: “Glory to God in
the highest heaven, and on earth peace for those he
favours (Lk 2:14).
May this Christmas season be filled with peace,
joy and happiness, may you and your loved ones and
friends be blessed with many gifts and may the grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you throughout
New 2023 Year.
