available to anyone who needs one. Call the office to
request a shawl or lap blanket or to join this ministry.

 THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD
Here is my chosen servant in whom my soul delights.

The Lord anointed him with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 10)
When Jesus had been baptized and was praying, the
heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon
him. (Luke 3)
Baptism is more than just a
“naming” ceremony but an
ongoing process of becoming
the people of faith that God
calls us to be.
In baptism, we claim the
name of “Christian” and
embrace all that that holy
name means: to live for
others rather than for ourselves, in imitation of Christ.
Our baptisms made each one of us the “servant” of
today's readings: to bring forth in our world the justice,
reconciliation and enlightenment of Christ, the “beloved
Son” and “favor” of God.
In baptism, the same Spirit of compassion, justice and
peace that “descends” upon Jesus at his baptism by
John descends and rests upon us, compelling us to take
on the work of the Gospel.
PARISH OFFICE
The parish office will be closed to the public until
further notice. Voice messages and emails will be
monitored.
ONTARIO: STEP 2
The province of Ontario has announced a modified Step
2 to help stop the spread of the Omicron variant of
Covid-19. Larger indoor religious services, rites, or
ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral
services are limited to 50% capacity. This will not
impact our current capacity since we are required to
maintain physical distancing of six feet/two meters
which effectively allows for one-third capacity for
church services.
All diocesan and parish scheduled meetings are to
take place virtually or be postponed/cancelled. Parish
offices are to remain closed to visitors, with staff
working remotely as much as possible.
Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 is to assume
they are infected and follow provincial health
directives. Protocols for mask wearing, physical
distancing, and hand sanitizing still apply.
2022 OFFERTORY ENVELOPES
2022 envelopes are available in the vestibule; please
check the label for accuracy. Contact the office to
request a box of envelopes or to register and obtain a
parish ID for those using CAFT or e-transfer.

to take part in the Church’s life and mission. Without
real participation by the People of God, talk about
communion risks remaining a devout wish. In this
regard, we have taken some steps forward, but a certain
difficulty remains and we must acknowledge the
frustration and impatience felt by many pastoral
workers, members of diocesan and parish consultative
bodies and women, who frequently remain on the
fringes. Enabling everyone to participate is an essential
ecclesial duty! All the baptized, for baptism is our
identity card.”

This universal week of prayer encourages Christians of
all denominations to meet, to participate in various
liturgical and other community activities, and to pray
together that all may be one, as Christ desires. The
themes and materials for this year’s worldwide prayer

More than ever, in these difficult times, we need a light
that shines in the darkness and that light, Christians
proclaim, has been manifested in Jesus Christ. One of

COVID 19 pandemic
