Good afternoon senior high school learners!

Learner’s Response
I hope you are all healthy and safe!
As we begin our day, let’s invoke the presence of the Almighty through a prayer to be led by
______________.
Thank you ___________.
Just a simple reminder class, see to it that you have your self-learning modules, pen and
notebook. Finally, make it sure to follow the IATF protocols to avoid the wide spread of
COVID-19. I also encourage everyone to turn on your camera and microphone if needed to
have an interactive discussion.
To check whether you are present this afternoon, when your name is called, tell a word that
describes your feeling right now. Is that clear? (CHECKING OF ATTENDANCE)
Learner’s Response
Great! It seems like you are present.
Since the internet connection is unpredictable, I decided to record this session in order for you
to play it back.

Let’s begin our session with this question have you ever experienced conducting a survey for a
class work that you did to the other subjects?
Kindly key-in YES if you did and NO if not.
Learner’s Response
Based from the responses well I guess, our topic for today is not something new to you
As we begin our lesson, I prepared something for you, a word-hunt game entitled “Locate Me!”
are you excited?
Learner’s Response
Great! Would you mind to read the directions ________?
The learner will read the directions.
Thank you ___________!
Is the directions clear to you class? If that’s so, let’s find out the words hidden in the grid. I will
give you 2 minutes to locate all the five words that are hidden. After my go signal, you can key
in your answers in the comment section. Twenty pesos worth of load will be given to the first
one who encoded the five major words. Let’s start
Very good SHS learners! It seems like you found all the terms.
You found the five majors terms, population, sample, random, sampling, and survey
At this moment, I would like to test your vocabulary skills. Let’s use the randomizer to
determine the lucky sharer. Anyway, you will be given a minute to think.
In your own words, what is “population”?
The teacher will use the randomizer.
Thank you _______ for that definition, or in Araling Panlipunan class, we define population as
particular section or group living in an area or country.
How about sample?
The teacher will use the randomizer.
Very good _______, for example in Biology, if we take a specimen of a whole entity, that is a
sample.
Let’s move on to the next terminology, in your own opinion, what is “random”?
The teacher will use the randomizer.
Awesome ____________, If it is also a way of choosing something without method or conscious
decision.
Moreover, how do we define sampling?
The teacher will use the randomizer.
Great ________ it as an action or a process of taking samples.
Finally, how about survey?
The teacher will use the randomizer.
Very Good _______ it is a process for collecting data from respondents to gain information.
These terminologies are actually connected to our main focus for today which is
PROBABILITY/RANDOM SAMPLING
Let’s define what is population? Would you mind to read the definition ___________?
The population refers to the whole group under study or investigation. In research, the population
does not always refer to people. It may mean a group containing elements of anything you want to
study, such as objects, events, organizations, countries, species, organisms, etc.
Thank you so much! Kindly take a look on the people enclosed by circle, we can consider that as
population.
Another examples class are:
All of the people in Burgos, Isabela
All of the rice farmers in Isabela
All of the students in Bacnor National High School
All of the calamansi trees in Calamansi plantation
As I said while a back, all of these examples are population and they can be quite large
Let’s move on to the sample, would you mind to read the definition _______?
A sample is a subset taken from a population, either by random sampling or by non-random
sampling. A sample is a representation of the population where it is hoped that valid conclusions will
be drawn from the population.
Great! From the first example, if we take 4 elements from the population, that is actually a sample.
Suppose we wanted to know the number of people in Luzon who can understand and speak Ilocano.
It would be a difficult, if not, impossible task to ask everyone in Luzon. Since it has a huge
population. So, we may take a sample. We may choose to ask just 2,000 people. That would still take
some effort, but is a much easier task.
Our answer will be an estimate – so there will be a slight amount of error involved. But if our sample
is done fairly, the results we obtain will get us surprisingly close to the actual result.
Let’s have another activity, this activity is entitled “Identify Me!”
Now it’s your time to identify the sample and population in the given scenarios.
First on list, considering the Senior High School learners of Bacnor National High School, the
teacher surveys 50 students to see what type of learning modalities they prefer amid pandemic.
Let’s use the randomizer once again,
Great job _______!
If you answered "All SHS students of Bacnor NHS” for population and “50 SHS students of Bacnor
NHS” for sample, then you are right!

Let’s move on to the next one, Out of the 28 teachers of Bacnor National High School, the Grade
12 researchers select 15 teachers to find out how they like the new desert that they baked.
Very good _______!
If you identified “All teachers of Bacnor NHS/ 28 teachers of Bacnor NHS” for population and “15
teachers of Bacnor NHS” as sample, then you are great!

Finally, take a look on this scenario, from the 25 hectares plantation of rice, the farmer selects a
hectare to know how much of his crop was ruined by the pests.
Great ______!
If you think that “25 hectares plantation of rice” is the population and “a hectare plantation of rice” is
your sample then great job!
You really understand what population is and sample as well!
Now let’s proceed to the next activity, are you excited to perform a random sampling using the
readily available materials at home?
Learner’s response
If that so, that’s amazing!
This activity is entitled “Random Sampling At Home!” would you mind to read the directions
_______
Is the directions clear class?
Awesome! You may start the activity.
Great! Since you performed the activity may I know how did you select those 10 pieces of
pebbles/beans?
Okay _____ how did you select those ten pieces of pebbles/beans? Kind key-in your answers in
the chat box. Did you just draw or pick it or you use patters?
Thank you for your response.
If you will give a special name for the technique that you used, what would it be?
Great job Senior High School learners! Now, let’s welcome ma’am Abigael to elaborate the
topic well.
Maybe some of you named it as “Drop or Pick Technique” since he or she picked the grains or beans
from the cup.
Or maybe some of you named it as “Odd Even Technique” since he or she used patterns to gather the
10 pebbles or beans by including the first pick and excluding the second one, including the third one
and so forth and so on.
All are acceptable and you did a great job!
