Reflection #6.

April 4, 2021.

In the gospel reading it is about how Jesus Christ tomb was open and his body was gone. When I go
to a Church I heard that Jesus resurrection was the very important part of it. Because no one ever raised
from the dead. We are also isolated and some areas are lockdown as well. We fear isolation because of
this world wide virus. I also feel a sense of hope in this reading. Jesus Christ courage to take to be
crucifixion on the cross and a burial in the tomb. Jesus Christ then go out of the tomb for he will be with
the Father now. And I also think just like Jesus Christ we will be safe and be free to go outside without
fear. As the COVID-19 is getting higher numbers this day I hope everyone would follow the restrictions
order and health protocol.

God compassion and courage to take our sin away in this Gospel. I wanted to reflect on the day that
Jesus Christ give me another chance and many more chances to make my life better, but the gift of
being a live is having a chance to make new things do good and know God even better. The word of the
bible give us the chance to know him. The vaccination was still on going but as the people being
stubborn we can't still stop this virus to spreading. Staying and home and reflecting and attending mass
is also a way for us to have faith and hope for you and your family. I would say that we are greatful and
must rejoice because God is alive and he will guide us through our life. This could be a lesson for me to
what I have done and be more responsible to my actions. Think how the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to us to
be saved is a huge thing that we should be thankful for.
Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, August 20) — A white dog cries in
pain after a man in uniform shoots him with a rifle in plain sight. Dogs
at the scene howl, as their fellow canine is helplessly gunned down.

The man is reported to be Dr. JM Victoria, the provincial veterinarian

of the island province of Marinduque.

In a Facebook post, animal welfare group Love and Hope for Stray
Animals shared footage taken on July 29 in Barangay Yook,
Buenavista town, of what it calls the “Buenavista mass dog
execution.”The representative of the group, Valerie Dellosa, told CNN
Philippines they are preparing to file cases against the vet for
violation of the Animal Welfare Act, with the help of another welfare
group, Animal Kingdom Foundation.

Torture, neglect, maltreatment, or killing of dogs is unlawful under Republic Act 10631. Public officers or
employees who violate the law can face up to three years imprisonment and/or a fine not exceeding
₱250,000.

Explaining the scene in the video, she said barangay officials offered to administer rabies vaccines to the
dogs. “The provincial vet told them bibigyan ng rabies shot. Tapos pinamamaril,” she said in a phone
interview.

at.]

Victoria, a long-time government vet of Marinduque, said in an online webinar on May 23 that the
province has remained rabies-free since 2012, that's why they have no cases of people dying from dog
bites.

Asked why the dogs had to be killed despite the province being free of rabies, Victoria explained that the
canines were voluntarily surrendered by their owners.

“Naka-pirma sila doon sa pag-surrender nila for various reasons. Dog bites, vehicular accidents, and
'yung na-i-inflict ng aso sa livestock," he told CNN Philippines in a phone interview.

what dogs inflict on livestock.]

He was reluctant to provide an official statement and cited the welfare of his family. He said netizens
only highlighted the way the dogs were killed.

“Crucified na ako sa media. I opted na 'wag na muna ako magsalita. Pati pamilya ko affected na. May
reason kung bakit nangyari 'yon,” he added.
[Translation: I'm crucified in media. I opted to remain silent. Even my family has been affected. There's a
reason why that happened.]

The video has drawn strong reactions from netizens.

"There is a special place in hell for the people ordering and following these orders," one said.

"Napaka wala kang puso sa pagpatay ng aso kay tanda tanda mo 😡😡😡😡😡", another commented.

A witness also claimed she saw Victoria killing stray dogs along the streets of Barangay Malbog on
August 11.

“Kapag pumapayag ‘yung may-ari, binabaril po nila. ‘Yung mga asong gala, binabaril on the spot. Kapag
binaril niya sa tagiliran at tumakbo ‘yung aso, i-ru-running shot niya,” Angela (not her real name) told
CNN Philippines. “Nanginig ‘yung laman ko. Naaawa po ako kasi naririnig mo ‘yung iyak ng aso.”

[Translation: When the owner agrees, the dogs are killed. Stray dogs are shot on the spot. When he
shoots at the side and the dog runs away, he continues firing… I was trembling. I pitied the dogs because
you can hear their cry.]

The witness said she saw local officials piling the dead dogs across the Malbog barangay hall, where an
Animal and Wildlife Rescue van was parked. The bodies were covered by plywood and sacks.

A six-month-old puppy, managed to escape when the vet fired on her and three other dogs. She was
wounded but was able to undergo surgery, according to Dellosa.

In a separate incident, Dellosa said Victoria shot a dog by the beach in front of bystanders, including
children.

“Playing god, showing off to people that you are untouchable? High and mighty? Just because people
are scared to call you out because you are a government official doesn't give you the right to do this,”
she wrote on Facebook.
