Subject-Verb Agreement
• Verbs are action words.
• We use the s form of the verb with singular
subjects.
Example:
1. Mama Annie cuddles her baby with much
love and care.
2. Jovie reads her favorite book.
• BUT if the subject is plural noun (more than
one person or animal, place, or thing), we use
the base form of the verb.
• The present-tense verb DOES NOT end with –
s, -es, -ies
• Example:
1. The dogs jump over the fence.

• is to express an action at happens regularly of
habitually
• time expression like everyday, every week,
once month, abd yearly show present tense.
Present-tense verbs
• Present-tense works with singular and plural
nouns
• If the subjects is a singular noun (one person,
animal, place or thing), the present-tense verb
ends with –s, -es, or –ies

Example: The dog jumps over the fence.


She goes to school everyday.
If the subject is a singular noun the present-
tense ends with
–s, -es, or –ies

• BUT if the subject is plural noun (more than


one person or animal, place, or thing), the
present-tense verb DOES NOT end with –s,
-es, -ies
